Guardians of the Galaxy still remains one of the best MCU films ever made with a lot of heart, humor, and badass moments. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 followed the footsteps of Vol. 1 and once again presented a refined piece of superhero cinema. The franchise has gathered millions of fans and everyone is quite excited for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. So, it’s finally time to gear up for a new adventure and this adventure would mark the introduction of one of the strongest Marvel characters there is – Adam Warlock. But at the same time, it will also mark the end of certain beloved characters. Now that the film is barely a week away, the leaks are getting out of hand and this article consists of the post credits scene of the film which has leaked!
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 Post Credit Scene – Peter’s Grandfather
The concept of post credit scenes have been consistently used and popularized by Marvel Cinematic Universe and there is barely any film in the MCU which does not feature at least one post-credit scene. So, you might be asking how many post credit scenes are there in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. The answer is that like most MCU films, GOTG 3 will feature 2 post-credit scenes. The description of one of these scenes follow below so read at your own risk, as you’ll encounter MASSIVE SPOILERS.
Post credits scene 2 or after credits scene showcases something fans have forever been wondering about. Remember the opening of GOTG (2014) where Peter’s mom passes away and he enters the care of his grandfather? Well, he gets abducted by Yondu right away and we never get to see Quill’s grandfather again. In this post credit credit scene, we see Star Lord returning to Earth to reunite with his grandfather.
Peter and his grandfather are seen having breakfast on the table while Peter asks him for some stories. One detail to notice here is that his grandpa is reading a newspaper and on the back side of the newspaper, there is an article about Kevin Bacon being abducted by aliens. This is a sweet and funny recall to the events that took place in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special which released in 2022. The scene and the movie ends with the title card saying “THE LEGENDARY STAR-LORD WILL RETURN!”
So, this particular scene plays mostly as a fun and sweet reunion between the characters who kicked off the franchise’s opening scene. Unlike the other post credit scene, it doesn’t hint about the future of GOTG or Avengers or anything. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is all set to release in theatres worldwide on 5th May 2023.
