Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 despite the hype is struggling at the box office. The box office projections of the film have been surprisingly low. Vol. 3 has already collected $14 million in previews which is quite good on its own but in comparison to Vol. 2 is less. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 had collected $17 million in previews and $146.5 million in its opening weekend. The opening weekend collections for Guardians of Galaxy Vol. 3 are somewhere between $118 million. It looks like the disappointment caused by Marvel to the fans is finally starting to affect them as the hype for the film is not converting into box office numbers anymore. However, in an interesting turn of events the film has picked up quite some pace and has become the best 2nd week holdover for any Marvel film post pandemic.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Is A Ray Of Hope For Marvel!
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has maintained its supremacy at the box office in its second week. The film grossed $58 million in the second weekend which is a 51% drop from the opening weekend. That’s the best second-weekend holdover for any of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy movies, and the best hold for any Marvel Cinematic Universe since the COVID-19 pandemic began. The success of the film proves that if Marvel puts out good content then the audience will definitely root for them but if Marvel themselves are half interested in their narrative then why will the fans?
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is playing in theatres near you. Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is currently available for streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar.
