I Am Groot is a part of the GOTG franchise under the Marvel umbrella. The spin-off featured Groot in the center stage. The 5-episode series was directed by Kirsten Lepore. The cutest GOTG member was voiced by Vin Diesel and focused on his story after the events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1, where he sacrifices himself in order to save his friends. There was no real story in season one, each episode had Groot dealing with something silly. It was honestly like a cartoon episode. However, the show worked very well for Marvel. Hence, a season two is coming out. But there is one key factor season two misses out in comparison to season one.
I Am Groot Season 2 Won’t Involve James Gunn!
I Am Groot Season two is scheduled start streaming on September 6th on Disney+. In the official production brief, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn’s name was nowhere to be found, indicating that I Am Groot’s sophomore run was made without his involvement. In season one, James Gunn was credited as the Executive Producer. This will be the first Guardians of the Galaxy project that is not produced or directed by James Gunn. Season two also marks the first installment of the MCU to be released after James Gunn officially dove into his duties at DC Studios.
The first season of I Am Groot is available for streaming on Disney+. Season 2 will arrive on the streaming platform on September 6th.
