Loki Season Two Original Ending

Loki season 2 had genuine hype from Marvel fans despite the poor run that the studio has had in the last two years. The high bar that the TV show has set up is something that the entire MCU is trying to catch up. Not to take anything away from The Marvels, but the God of Mischief series is both a well crafted piece of content as well as something that is very relevant to the MCU’s current saga. The sequel season to the blockbuster series didn’t disappoint. In fact, many believe that Marvel has once again hit it out of the park with Loki. Perhaps it is the best thing Marvel has done all year. However, the season did end on a tragic note. Many fans would be sad for Loki. But, what if I tell you there was an alternate ending that was originally planned? Exciting, isn’t it? Let’s find out more.

Loki Season 2: Was The Original Ending Better?

We all know what happened at the Loki season two. Loki destroyed the Temporal Loom and assumed its position in order to stop the multiverse from collapsing. Thus, becoming one of the most important beings of the MCU and the God of Stories. However, it would be criminal to say that this was not the original ending. Aaron Moorhead, director of the Loki series revealed on Marvel Studios Assembled: The Making of Loki Season 2 what the original ending of season two was supposed to be:

“There was a draft of the script of the very end, the very end. Something wasn’t sitting right with both of us about it. And the issue was, this draft didn’t have Loki destroying the Loom. He saved the Loom from imploding and then ascended the throne. We all knew something was up, we just didn’t know what. ‘Cause it was like, well he’s trying to save the Loom, he gets the throne, all of this.

But the problem was, is that he didn’t have the sacrifice, and we realized, why doesn’t he destroy the Loom and then have to take over the Loom’s massive responsibility? He doesn’t get anything out of it. It seems so obvious now, it seems like exactly the right choice. But that was a watershed moment in the development of it, when we realized Loki needs to destroy and become the Loom.”

Both the seasons of Loki are available for streaming on Disney+.
