After Endgame’s failed time heist in New York, the God of Mischief – Loki was revitalized and his journey in this alternate timeline was shown to us in the Disney+ series- Loki, yeah no one made any efforts there. The series introduced us to the TVA and the entire concept that there is an organization which is trying to maintain something called the Sacred Timeline. The series showed us various versions of Loki, one being his love interest called Sylvie. However, the biggest thing that the series did to the MCU was introducing Jonathan Majors as Kang or He who remains. The Loki series after Quantumania has to be the most important content for Marvel’s Multiverse Saga. Ever since 2021, fans have been waiting patiently for a second season. We know that it is suppose to come out in mid 2023, but when exactly?
Why Loki Season 2 Doesn’t Have A Premiere Date?
Loki is one of the rare Marvel shows that has not been postponed to next year. It has a rumored release date of mid 2023, but if it was releasing so soon then why haven’t we seen any trailer for the show? Before Loki season 2 starts streaming, Secret Invasion is supposed to debut. Marvel doesn’t release two series simultaneously as it splits the audience in twos. Disney+ as a platform too is home to many franchises that come under Disney and the schedule of the streaming service seems very tight.
The Mandalorian is all set to debut on March 1st with its third season, the show will end its run on April 19th. Marvel’s first “event series”, will begin sometime in May. A realistic premiere date for Secret Invasion is May 10, if that rings true then the series will likely end on June 14 that is if it is not already delayed. Marvel didn’t release a trailer for the show at Super Bowl LVII. They didn’t release a trailer for The Marvels as well which has been now delayed to November 2023. However, for now let us assume that Secret Invasion is on track.
If so, Loki still won’t debut after Secret Invasion as Ahsoka, another Star Wars show is set to start streaming before Loki. Despite Ahsoka being the new and big Star Wars show, I think Disney understands which is a more valuable asset currently as The Disney+ commercial titled “Streaming in 2023” featured much more footage from Loki, compared to just one singular shot of Ahsoka. So, Loki might debut first. Another reason why I say so is Loki season two wrapped filming in October 2022.
While Ashoka had a similar production timeline, the wrapping date for the production of the show remains unclear. Sabine Wren actress Natasha Liu Bordizzo appeared to indicate that she finished filming in mid-October. Considering all this, Loki season two could start streaming after a short break from Secret Invasion. Continuing Marvel’s Phase 5 season two of Loki could start streaming by Wednesday, July 12. However, if Ahsoka does release before Loki then another streaming date for the show can be August 30th, once the Star Wars show ends.
Loki Season 2 is slated on release on Disney+ in mid-2023. Season 1 is available for streaming.
