Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Oscar Campaign

The newest Marvel film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is out.  The film’s events are set sometime after Endgame. Ryan Coogler has returned to write and direct the sequel. The film stars Letitia Wright, Angela Basset, Lupita Nyong’o, Martin Freeman, Winston Duke, Tenoch Huerta, Danai Gurira, etc. Letitia Wright’s Shuri is the real protagonist of the film as Chadwick Boseman has tragically passed away. The film was pretty much marketed as something that addresses grief everyone was experiencing after Boseman’s passing. The film just like any other Marvel had great first reactions but more than anything the one that caught my attention was that it was a mature film unlike other MCU ventures. The last few Marvel films have deeply disappointed me to the point where I questioned my choice of films.

However, I deeply respect and believe in Ryan Coogler as a filmmaker. So, I wanted to see what he had to bring in this array of disappointments that Marvel is churning out. The trailers for the film looked absolutely stunning and heart pounding. I conjured a lot of hope as I stepped into the theatres to watch Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, hoping that the film is good, as I knew this would be my breaking point if I saw another mediocre venture from Marvel and it seems like Ryan Coogler has just managed to make this film work and it looks Marvel is planning to exploit this to its core as they’re pushing Wakanda Forever’s Oscar Campaign.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s Oscar Campaign Is Very Important For Marvel!

Black Panther Wakanda Forever Review - A Tribute To The King!

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is very important for Marvel not because its the only decent Phase 4 film but rather it is their only ticket to have Oscars in their offices and under their banner. Just like the first Black Panther, Marvel wants its sequel to grab some Academy Awards as well because other than this film no other film is going to do that. Black Panther secured 6 Oscar nominations including Best Picture and Best Original Score. Of which the film won three- Best Original Score, Best Production Design and Best Costume Design.

Even if Marvel wants to lull the Academy and the audiences to give them the Oscars then I don’t think so that’ll work. Honestly, Wakanda Forever is simply not an Oscar worthy film. It is nowhere close to the first Black Panther. There was a reason why that film worked so well. Wakanda Forever is not able to replicate that. Marvel is trying to use the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman to make an average film look like deeply emotional and spiritual.

In my honest opinion, the only worthy Oscar nomination that the film should secure is Angela Bassett for Best Supporting Actress. She truly was very vivacious in the film and should get some recognition for it. This is Marvel beginning their attempt campaign for Wakanda Forever:
