Marvel’s Echo was certainly not the most hyped upcoming project of MCU, however the latest trailer certainly exploded the hype meter. The extended role of Kingpin and that split second Daredevil in red suit cameo made fans completely lose their minds! Echo seems like something adult Marvel fans were waiting for ever since Netflix Defenders-verse got cancelled. A new era of Marvel TV is beginning and Echo will serve as the testing ground for Marvel’s upcoming mature content including Daredevil: Born Again, Blade, and others. Anyways, following is the compilation of the leaks we’ve heard about the show so far, so read at your own risk!
Marvel’s Echo Plot Leaks Bring in Kingpin, Daredevil, and Punisher!
Much of the following leaks seem to have been confirmed by the trailer especially the ones involving Kingpin and Daredevil. Cause let’s be real, these two characters are what most of the fans have been waiting for! According to certain leaks from GVN, the series will shift a lot between the past and the present. Echo will focus on Maya returning to her hometown to reconnect with her friends and family but old enemies surface and are looking for Maya and Kingpin. The villains of the series will be the Black Knife Cartel who want revenge on both Echo and Kingpin, therefore, Fisk and Maya reunite to stop a common enemy.
As you may know, in the comics the Black Knife Cartel was led by the sadistic drug lord, Teodor Zarco and they acted as the suppliers for every known criminal organization in US. That aside, we will also see in a flashback how a car accident left Maya with only one leg and claimed the life of her mother. But the biggest news is that Charlie Cox is set to return as Matt Murdock aka Daredevil for two episodes. One of those episodes will be a flashback which will showcase how Matt and Maya met for the first time. Charlie Cox will be wearing the red suit he first was seen wearing in the Netflix series and this much has been confirmed by the trailer itself. And beware now comes the real bomb!
As per leaks, Matt Murdock aka Daredevil in the present will ask for Maya’s help in locating The Punisher. Exactly why he’s looking for The Punisher is still unknown, but it is pretty clear now that Matt will lead all the street heroes of Marvel and hence connect them all. He’s basically what Doctor Strange and Wong are to the main heroes of the MCU. The story originally was Matt looking for Jessica Jones but due to scheduling conflicts, Krysten Ritter was not able to film. This means Jon Bernthal is back as The Punisher and might play a major role in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series.
Lastly we’ve also received reports that Kingpin is most likely running for the mayor of Hell’s Kitchen and that is what draws his enemies’ attention towards him. Also, it can now be confirmed that events of Echo will directly tie into Daredevil: Born Again as it will set up major arcs for Kingpin, Daredevil, and a few more potential Daredevil characters. Another thing that is now pretty evident as well is that Daredevil will act as a glue between all of Marvel’s street heroes and the chances of Marvel Knights and Midnight Suns are now more than ever.
