MCU is in a tough spot currently. Despite being the leading studio of the world, time post the pandemic hasn’t been easy for them. DC always had their fair share of trouble. They were never able to build a cohesive cinematic universe to begin with. Hopefully, with James Gunn taking over the tide will change. Marvel on the other hand, had a dream run for over eleven years but since then it has been in a slump. Only this year the studio faced sexual assault accusations on two of their stars- Jonathan Majors and Tenoch Huerta. Adding to the trouble, were the writer’s and actor’s strike which have toyed with Kevin Feigi’s plans for Marvel Phase 5. So, with everything going haywire does Feigi wants to take the spoils of war and hang up his coat? Or does he wish to continue?
Is MCU President Kevin Feigi Taking Over Disney?
Joanna Robinson was a recent guest on Matthew Belloni’s podcast The Town, who is an insider and co-author of the recent Marvel Studios tell-all book. During her interview she was asked about Marvel President Kevin Feigi and whether he wants to stay at Marvel despite all the recent troubles? Robinson didn’t hesitate to reply and cleared all doubt, “I don’t know, because for a time, I was wondering if he would want to take over Disney In the ongoing [Bob] Iger succession question. No, but absolutely not, right? Because he wants to make movies. Like, whatever he does, he wants to directly have his hand in making movies.”
Belloni then presented the possibility that Feigi might take over Lucasfilm and Robinson actually agreed with that comment. She emphasized, “That’s what I’m saying. He could take over Lucasfilm because he is more of a Star Wars guy than he is a comic book guy. So, like, if a vacancy opens up at Lucasfilm…”
Belloni then clarified that they were not making any sort of suggestion that current Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy should step down from her role. Robinson did conclude by saying that she believes Feigi isn’t leaving Marvel anytime soon. Her exact words were, “If Kathy is tired and they can blame her for that, then that is something that I think Kevin would want to do, but other than that, I think he sticks with the empire that he built.”
This comes amidst reports that Feige has been spread quite thin across the MCU’s many entries in recent years, even while he hasn’t been involved as heavily as he used to be in day-to-day operations. Don’t forget catch Marvel’s latest TV show Loki season 2 on Disney+.
