Marvel Studios is in a tough spot currently. Despite being the leading studio of the world, post pandemic hasn’t been easy for them. DC always had their fair share of trouble. They were never able to build a cohesive cinematic universe to begin with. Hopefully, with James Gunn taking over the tide will change. Marvel on the other hand, had a dream run for over eleven years but since then has been in a slump. The most recent struggle for the studio is the sexual assault accusations on two of their stars- Jonathan Majors and Tenoch Huerta. Adding to the trouble, is the writer’s strike which is toying with Kevin Feigi’s plans for Marvel Phase 5. So, due to a multitude of reasons MCU has changed the release dates of many of their movies.
MCU: Blade, Avengers: Secret Wars and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty Officially Delayed!
Marvel Studios officially moved the release date for Deadpool 3 up to May 3, 2024 from its original November 8, 2024 spot. This date was previously reserved for Anthony Mackie’s solo outing on the big screen- Captain America: Brave New World. That film will now release on July 26, 2024, the original release date for Thunderbolts. Thunderbolts on the other hand will release on December 20, 2024. Other delays includes Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, which now releases one year later than initially planned on May 1, 2026, while Avengers: Secret Wars debuts on May 7, 2027.
As per Disney, Marvel Studios’ Blade has been delayed from its original September 6, 2024 release date to February 14, 2025. This was originally the release date of the Fantastic Four reboot which is now being shifted to May 2, 2025.
Marvel’s newest TV show- Secret Invasion will start streaming on Disney+ on Wednesday, 21 June 2023. New episodes would drop every week to complete its six episodes run.
