Marvel has expanded its wings into TV shows since Phase 3 has ended. Since 2020, Marvel has started something that they’ve never done before, broadening their horizon. Marvel has made 6 films in Phase 3 so far and 7 TV shows. We’ve gotten about 50 hours worth of content from Marvel combined. However, one thing that can’t be denied is that Phase 4 has not particularly worked for Marvel. Except for a rare success in Spider-Man: No Way Home and TV shows like Loki, Marvel is struggling to keep their audience hooked to their content. If they don’t do something to fix this soon they might simply loose their audience as the promise of success from the previous phases won’t keep eyeballs glued to the screens.
Their latest Disney+ release was Ms. Marvel, a show focusing on Kamala Khan a Pakistani-American Superhero. The show didn’t exactly do well as many audiences found the show mediocre. It did score 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, although its IMDb score is 6.1/10. The overall quality of the show was well…average. It did have some surprises though. Like Captain Marvel swapping places with Kamala, Kamala’s powers origins hints at Mutant’s existence. Considering the show ended by introducing such ideas, fans were excited to see whether another season was afoot.
Ms. Marvel Cinematographer has No Updates on Season 2
Ms. Marvel comic co-creator Amanat mentioned earlier this year that she is positive of a second season. However, now the cinematographer of the show, Jules O’Loughlin gave us a discouraging update on the show getting s second season. In an interview with Comicbook.com O’Loughlin said,
“Listen, hand on heart, I can honestly say that at this stage, I haven’t heard of any plans for a Season 2… there’s so much going on with Marvel, and there’s stuff happening and popping up all the time, but I haven’t heard of anything, Sharmeen [Obaid-Chinoy] hasn’t heard of anything. The next thing for Iman and the character of Kamala is to be in The Marvels. But at this stage, there hasn’t been any talk of a season two on Ms. Marvel.”
He further mentioned his excitement and all the fun ideas he has in store for the show is it ever gets a second season, “I would love there to be a season two because I think season one was so much fun and such a great shake, and I think it’s really touched a lot of hearts, and people seem to be crazy for Ms. Marvel… that’s done so well. So listen, I think it’d be a lot of fun, certainly shooting. I had a huge amount of fun shooting the eps that I did on season one. So if I was offered the chance to be involved in the season two, hell yeah. Why not? What’s not to like about that?”
Ms. Marvel stars Iman Vellani, Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Naki, Azher Usman, Travina Springer and Nimra Bucha.
All episodes of Ms. Marvel Season 1 are currently streaming on Disney+
