Ms. Marvel: Kamran and His Mother Explained

Marvel has expanded its wings into TV shows since Phase 3 has ended. Since 2020, Marvel has started something that they’ve never done before, broadening their horizon. Marvel has made 6 films in Phase 3 so far and 7 TV shows. We’ve gotten about 50 hours worth of content from Marvel combined. However, one thing that can’t be denied is that Phase 4 has not particularly worked for Marvel. Except for a rare success in Spider-Man: No Way Home and TV shows like Loki, Marvel is struggling to keep their audience hooked to their content. If they don’t do something to fix this soon they might simply loose their audience as the promise of success from the previous phases won’t keep eyeballs glued to the screens.

Their latest Disney+ release was Ms. Marvel, a show focusing on Kamala Khan a Pakistani-American Superhero. The show didn’t exactly do well as many audiences found the show mediocre. It did score 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, although its IMDb score is 6.1/10. The show released its 6th and final episode just two days back. Check our review of Ms. Marvel. The episode was in line with the show’s quality- average. It did have some surprises though. Like Captain Marvel swapping places with Kamala, Kamala’s powers origins hints at Mutant existence. Considering the show ended by introducing such ideas, fans were excited to see whether another season was afoot.

Comic Creator Amanat wants Ms. Marvel Season 2

Amanat who co-created Kamala in the comics recently commented on her wish for a 2nd season. “Oh my God, there’s so much I would want to do in another season,”  told The A.V. Club. “Certainly more elements of Pakistan, the Red Daggers, and her family history.”

She elaborated that in the 2nd Season she wanted to revisit “what happened when Hasan got on that train with Baby Sana.” She wants a family trip to Pakistan that would send Kamala back in time so she can witness a key moment between Aisha, Hasan and Sana.

“I have thought about all of this. We weren’t able to get into it in season one, so going to Pakistan and even pre-Partition India is a large part of Kamala’s story,” Amanat explained. “It’s one of my favorite things the writers did, they made it into its own special thing. Her story continues on The Marvels, but I’m not going to lie, I’ve been very public about my wanting a season two. We’ll see. I don’t know.”

Amanat seems positive of a 2nd Season but considering the show’s performance, it is unlikely that it would be renewed anytime soon. However, Ms. Marvel or Kamala Khan will appear in the MCU again in The Marvels as confirmed by the post credit scene. It would be interesting to see if Marvel renews the show after the film. Ms. Marvel stars Iman Vellani, Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Naki, Azher Usman, Travina Springer and Nimra Bucha.

All Six Episodes of Ms. Marvel are currently streaming on Disney+

The Marvels is slated to release on July 28th 2023.
