She-Hulk Attorney at Law has a Tony Stark / Iron Man Wanna Be?

New Month, new superhero. Marvel has been introducing a lot of new characters in Phase 4. Another new superhero with her own show called She-Hulk: Attorney At Law. The show will focus on Hulk’s cousin She Hulk played by Tatiana Maslany. The show is about a superhero girl Jennifer Walters who works for a Law Firm that handles superhero cases. The show from the trailer would have Hulk aka Bruce Banner trying to mentor Jennifer on how to be a good Super Hero. After the teaser’s release, the show was heavily criticized on the poor VFX of She-Hulk as it cartoonish and fake. However, since it is a Marvel show there was some hype around the show nevertheless. As Comic Con was scheduled hardly a month before the series’ debut, Marvel had decided to exploit Comic Con to its fullest for the show’s promotion.

They started off with a few gimmicks like showcasing a new poster for the show that had a contact number for She-Hulk. If fans called that number they’ll be directed to a pre-recorded message that references funny moments from the MCU while promoting the show as well. However, Marvel busted out their big guns during their panel when they revealed the official trailer for the show. The new trailer was so much better than the teaser. Fans seem to like the trailer as it marked the return of many iconic characters and felt more finished. The other recent clips and snippets released by Marvel are much better and enjoyable. Recently, the character description of one of the characters from the show was revealed. For promotional purposes Disney+ revealed the description of Todd’s character and it’s more exciting than you think.

She-Hulk Is Todd the Next Iron Man of the MCU?

Todd is described as one of the people who our protagonist will eventually date. The character’s description is also given as he will be one of the people that Jennifer dates from online dating apps. The character will be played by Jon Bass, if you think you’ve seen him somewhere then that’s probably alongside Dwayne the Rock Johnson in Baywatch. The character is actually a billionaire but unfortunately for him it takes more than money to be Iron Man.

The official Disney+ description builds his character as, “Todd is a billionaire playboy philanthropist douchebag who wants more than anything to feel like Tony Stark, but comes off as Jon Bass. He is used to getting whatever he wants, but he’s a total creep who starts popping up everywhere.” In various clips from the show Walters has mentioned how she finds the personalities of other Avengers boring except for Tony Stark, so him coming across to her will certainly lead to some interaction. It’ll be funny when he keeps on popping again and again in her life, when she is already trying to balance being a lawyer and a superhero. This is date is not going to go well.

he-Hulk Co-Producer Wendy Jacobson described the characters as mostly harmless but his contribution to the show won’t be act as a super villains rather to provide comedic relief and push Jennifer to the edge. “Jon Bass is so funny and he’s so good at playing this terrible person—it’s really fun to watch. The character of Todd plays on the social commentary of misogyny and incel culture and the unfair views of women. He’s annoying, but mostly harmless and it’s really about embodying these awkward interactions you have with someone when they keep showing up in your life over and over again.”

Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters / She-Hulk,  Jameela Jamil as Titania, Ginger Gonzaga as Nikki Ramos, Renée Elise Goldsberry as Amelia, Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky / Abomination, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner / Smart Hulk, and Benedict Wong as Wong: The Sorcerer Supreme. Apart from the main cast, the Web Series also stars Josh Segarra, Jon Bass, Anais Almonte, Nicholas Cirillo, and Griffin Matthews have been cast in undisclosed roles. Drew Matthews portrays Dennis “Buck” Bukowski, while David Otunga appears as one of Walters’ dates. The character Frog Man will also appear.

She-Hulk will start streaming on Disney+ from this Thursday, 18th August 2022.
