Spider-Man: No Way Home Re-Release Has a New Post Credit Scene!

Spider-Man: No Way Home is arguably the most successful Marvel movie in Phase 4. No Way Home is the third Tom Holland Spider-Man film. The film is directed by Jon Watts who has also helmed the first two films. The film stars Tom Holland in the lead role as Spider-Man/Peter Parker and the supporting cast includes Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr. Strange and Benedict Wong as Wong. The film also starred Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield from their respective Spider-Man franchises. The film also has all the Spider-Man villains from the Raimi trilogy and the Amazing Spider-Man trilogy. The film’s plot was simple, following the events of Far From Home, Peter is struggling with everyone knowing his identity.

He approaches Dr. Strange to cast a spell so that the entire world forgets who Spider-Man is. The spell goes wrong causing everyone from all the universes to pop into Earth 616. Even if the film had many narrative problems and many elements in the film were simply there for fan service, the film was one of the best theatre experiences of my life. The film was the highest grossing film of 2021 with $1.9 Billion worldwide. Now, Sony wants to exploit the film’s success even more as the film is re-releasing in theatres with 10 minutes of additional footage.

What is the New Post Credit Scene in Spider-Man: No Way Home?

After the re-release date of the film was announced, Sony revealed a new poster for the film which all three Spider-Men. This was the first promotional material from the film that had Tobey and Andrew in the film. When the film released first, Tobey and Andrew were kept away from the promotional materials of the film to keep their entrance a surprise, it wasn’t but anyway. The original film had a post credit scene like any other Marvel but it wasn’t just any other post credit scene.

The first teaser trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was revealed to audiences in the form of a post credit scene. However, now that the film is re-releasing Multiverse of Madness is already out, in fact it is even streaming on Disney+Hotstar. So, the re-release version will have a new post credit scene and it seems to solve or at least clarify one of the elements from the film. The movie ended on the note that the entire world has forgotten who Peter Parker is, they know Spider-Man but not Peter Parker.

An end like this was surely shocking and left audiences confused about how exactly this will happen as in the ones who knew Peter will they forget about him altogether? Spider-Man: No Way Home tried to show us some scenes that clarified this issue, like the scene with Ned and MJ in the café. However, this new post credit scene of the film seems to clarify of exactly does Dr. Strange’s spell works. We don’t have the actual scene but a description of it.

“I’m a big fan of Tom and those movies and Andrew. So, it was definitely intriguing. But, yes, I was also going, ‘Well, what what are we going to do?’ And that was a bit mysterious,” Tobey Maguire previously stated about the Spider-Man legacy. “I did appreciate what was shared. But, it was really about getting together with these people and revisiting what was part of my history and getting a chance to like come together.”

He added, “There are personal things too, which are kind of resolutions or a way to revisit and… I’m not quite sure how to put it. It’s just to get to get back into that and i don’t want to say like close the chapter… But revisit and have certain resolutions and just join in this loving creative spirit.”

Spider-Man: No Way Home is currently streaming on Netflix and the Re-released version of the film will release in theatres on 2nd September 2022.
