If you don’t already know, Ms. Marvel is all set to return in The Marvels (Captain Marvel 2) alongside Captain Marvel (Carol Denvers), and Monica Rambeau. The Marvels is all set to release in fall 2023 and will showcase the further adventures of the Captain Marvel family. Ms. Marvel finale had just one post credit scene where Captain Marvel (Carol Denvers) suddenly appeared in Kamala’s room! This can be explained by her switching places with Kamala Khan due to some connection the bangle formed between them. This directly tied Ms. Marvel to The Marvels and as per reports, The Marvels will also be tied to Secret Invasion as Nick Fury will be a part of the film. The following sections consist of heavy spoilers to the plot of The Marvels, so read at your own risk!
The Marvels Full Plot Summary, Leaks, and Spoilers
As you might know the film has already had a lot of test screenings and thanks to that, we already have the full plot summary of the film. However, please note that this summary might or might not be a 100% true so, do not rely on it much. Also, if you want to experience The Marvels knowing as little as possible, this article isn’t for you. The following section contains MAJOR SPOILERS for the film, so beware.
Carol is investigating Kree insurgents in space. Monica is working with Nick Fury at S.A.B.E.R. space station “The Peak”. Kamala is living with her family in New Jersey. Kree General Dar-Benn blames Carol for the fall of the Kree Empire when she defeated the Supreme Intelligence in 1995. The Kree now refer to Carol as “the Annihilator”, which she disputes. Carol learns that Dar-Benn created a machine powered by one of the Nega-Bands that can open portals in the fabric of reality. The machine disrupts the powers of Carol, Monica and Kamala, causing them to randomly switch locations between the summit, the Peak and the Khan household.
People in their vicinity are also teleported, so Fury and a Kree death squad end up in the Khan household, while Dar-Benn steals the other Nega-Band from Kamala. Carol, Monica and Kamala join forces to stop Dar-Benn and protect each other due to their unstable powers, while Fury takes the Khans to the Peak for protection. Carol doesn’t believe Kamala is ready after she hesitated during the fight, but Monica reminds Carol that Kamala is not a soldier, and Carol decides to train Kamala. Monica resents Carol for abandoning her and her mother Maria Rambeau, but learns that Carol and Maria reunited after the Blip and Carol was with Maria when she died.
The Marvels find out that Dar-Benn plans to use the machine to create portals and steal other planet’s natural resources to rebuild the Kree homeworld Hala. Dar-Benn has already destroyed two planets for its atmosphere, and is now targeting planet Aladna, where people communicate through song, for its water. Carol is embarrassed to go there because she accidentally married Prince Yan during a previous visit, and is technically the princess. The people of Aladna worship Carol, and she is forced to sing to alert them about Dar-Benn’s impending invasion. Prince Yan creates new suits for the Marvels, and Monica learns how to synchronize their powers so they can fight.
The Marvels save Aladna, and Carol realizes that Dar-Benn is destroying planets that Carol cares about as revenge, and her next target is Earth. Dar-Benn attacks and severely damages the Peak. Fury orders an evacuation, but learns there are not enough escape pods for the entire crew. Fury allows a litter of Flerkens to eat the crew, safely storing them in the pocket dimension in their stomachs, and launches the Flerkens to Earth. The Marvels rescue Fury and repel the Kree armada, then pursue Dar-Benn back to Hala, where the Kree are celebrating the rebirth of their world. The Marvels confront Dar-Benn just as the machine accidentally creates an Incursion, threatening the universe.
Carol defeats Dar-Benn, Kamala destroys the machine and retrieves her bangle, and Monica fixes the Incursion, but ends up stranded in a parallel universe. Carol decides to return to Earth to train Kamala and help Fury search for Monica. Mid Credits – Monica awakens in the hospital and learns she is in a universe where Maria is alive and is Captain Marvel. Post credits – Kamala steals Fury’s tablet with data on Earth’s emerging superhumans and approaches Kate Bishop with the idea of reforming the Avengers, telling Kate “did you know Ant-Man has a daughter?”
