Thor: Love and Thunder is Thor’s 4th solo outing in the MCU. The film marks the return of regular players in a Thor film and some new entries- Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Natalie Portman, Russell Crowe, Taika Waititi, , Chris Pratt, Jaimie Alexander, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, and Vin Diesel and Christian Bale. The film is directed by Thor: Ragnarok fame Taika Waititi. He also co-wrote the film’s screenplay with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. The film focuses on Thor’s journey after the events of Endgame. We seemingly weren’t sure where Thor’s story would go next but this film gives us a good idea of it. We’re introduced to Gorr the God Butcher in this film. The film is just above 2 hours and to wrap it up quickly it is mixed bag of emotions and dry humor.
With conflicting tones and misplaced humor the movie was a good but mediocre affair. However, if you want to check out our full review you can click here. The film had gotten mixed reviews since its premiere. However, the majority was heading towards the positive side. However, as the days have gone by and the film has opened to audiences those opinions have drastically changed as the film is now being considered one of the worst films in the entire MCU. Until now this was just the opinions of people, however, today we have proof that this is a shared notion by everyone.
Thor: Love and Thunder Lowest Rated Thor Film?
As of today, Thor: Love and Thunder has a rating of 65% on Rotten Tomatoes, that is lower than what was previously considered the lowest rated film in the entire MCU- Thor: The Dark World. Dark World had a rating of 66% on Rotten Tomatoes. The predecessor of Love and Thunder is one of the best rated MCU films as it has a 93% Fresh rating. Even the first Thor film has a rating of 77%. Thor: Love and Thunder shares the exact same rating on IMDb as Thor: The Dark World- 6.8/10.
The film’s box office performance has been decent but the ratings just keep falling. As of today, Thor: Love and Thunder is the worst rated film in the entire MCU. With the lowest Rotten Tomatoes score of 65% and the shared 2nd lowest score on IMDb of 6.8/10. This score is shared by Thor: The Dark World, Captain Marvel and now Thor: Love and Thunder. The lowest IMDb score is by Black Widow- 6.7/10. I think this is a big indication for Marvel that the kind of content they’re churning out is not the same quality anymore. As their Phase 4 films have gotten some really bad ratings. Hopefully Marvel shakes some things to fix this problem.
Earlier this year Director Taika Waititi had said, “Sometimes two people come together to inspire the world and change the cinematic landscape forever. And then there’s me and [Chris Hemsworth] who are too cool to care about anything except making movies that bring people absolute joy. Ok I don’t look cool I know that.” Waititi then added, “This film is the craziest thing I’ve ever done and I’m honored to bust my ass and have a nervous breakdown so you can all see it in May 2022.”
Thor: Love and Thunder is currently playing in theatres.
