Sony’s most anticipated Spider-Man spinoff film Madame Web which might connect to the MCU in some form has interesting updates. The film is part of SUMC (Sony Universe of Marvel Characters) which had previous entries like Venom 1&2 and Morbius.
Madame Web Details
The plot of Madame Web is currently under wraps, though fans of the Marvel and Spider-Man comics might have a better idea that Madame Web AKA Cassandra Cain is a blind clairvoyant and precognitive Mutant who helps Spider-man in some tricky situations and is also blessed with the ability to look into the future. Caine also suffers from a musular disease and connected to life-support that resembles as Spider web. It’s currently unknown if the film follows the comic origins of the character closely. Dakota Johnson is cast as Madame Web who had huge success with Indie dramas in recent times. The actress revealed her vision for the film recently.
The actress said the following about the film in a recent interview while promoting her new Indie film Cha Cha Real Smooth.
“I guess having experience on all tiers of films I can bring maybe some stuff from the little movies to the big movies that I want to see in them, you know? I really love seeing large-scale films that still have heart in them.”
The actress also revealed people/cast from her latest film Cha Cha Real Smooth were also going to be part of Madame Web.
“People from ‘Cha Cha [Real Smooth]’ and some from ‘Am I Okay?’ are coming on to Madame Web with me. It’s cool. It’s fun to be able to start creating a real team of people that make movies.”
Along with Dakota Johnson, the film also has Tahar Rahim, Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, and Isabela Merced in undisclosed roles. The film is currently scheduled to release on July 7, 2023
