When you have rights to one of the most loved Superheroes of all time, that is an asset you use carefully. It took a little for Sony to grasp this concept but I think now they’ve realized it. They’re making sure they don’t waste these rights. They’ve decided to go deep in the Spider-Man mythos. They’re creating a number of Spider-Man spin offs of other characters as they’ve realized they can’t create a decent Spider-Man flick. So Marvel is using Spider-Man in the MCU but Sony is distributing the movie and enjoying the profits. This is Sony’s dream come true. They’ve created their own universe of Spider-Man Spin offs. It kicked off with 2018’s Venom followed by Venom: Let there be Carnage, Morbius, Kraven the Hunter and the latest being Madame Web. Kraven the Hunter is slated to release six months prior to Madame Web on 13th January 2023.
The latest addition to the cast of the Madame Web film was Adam Scott. As the film’s production has been going on for a while now and we currently don’t have any idea about the plot of the film or who’s is playing which character. Except for Dakota Johnson’s Madame Web who looks like she will based on Julia Carpenter in the comics based on the set photos we got last month. The last update we got from the film was Adam Scott’s first look that was leaked. Well, after nearly 2 months, we finally have leak and this time it reveals an action scene from the movie. Watch the leaked footage below.
Madame Web: An Action Scene with an Ambulance Leaked
Madame Web’s production has been going on for a few months and it looks like the film is starting shoot its action sequences on real locations instead of sets. Today a SUV equipped was seen filming an ambulance down Main Street Worcester towards Lincoln Square. The footage is said be from this film. Multiple people have posted this newest updates but we’ve not been able to have a closer look. All we can a SUV going reverse with a camera attached to it and an ambulance following soon afterwards.
In a longer video, we can see that after the ambulance leaves the frame, the car’s still keep moving but then we realize they’re coming back to the position. The film Honest Thief was also filmed on the same spot. The shot is set at night and I feel an action sequence like this would be early on in the film. However, I can’t deduce more based on the footage we have. Kudos to Sony to keep the main plot of the film under the wraps. However, I’m sure they’ll us that in the very first trailer of the film. Madame Web was created by late writer Dennis O’Neil. The original Madame Web — real name Cassandra Webb — first appeared in 1980’s Amazing Spider-Man #210. The mantle of Madame Web was later taken up by Julia Carpenter, who is perhaps best known for being the second Spider-Woman. Created by Jim Shooter and Mike Zeck, Julia first appeared as Spider-Woman as part of the Secret Wars limited series in 1984. Julia became Madame Web in 2010’s Amazing Spider-Man #637 following the death of Cassandra Webb.
The film stars Dakota Johnson, as well as fellow co-stars Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim Emma Roberts and most recently Severance’s star Adam Scott. The film is to be directed by S.J. Clarkson and the screenplay of the film is written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, with a previous draft having been penned by Kerem Sanga.
Madame Web is slated to release on October 6th 2023.
