Spider-Man: No Way Home is the biggest box office hit of the past 2 years and is being adored by the fans and critics alike. That aside, it has been described as one of the best theatre experience in years by a lot of viewers. MCU movies have always been hype-worthy and exciting due to incredible world building and extravagance they boast.
It’s been over three months since its release so, by now most of you know about Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Their versions of Spider-man made an extended appearance in the film before being sent back to their respective universes. So, the questions most fans are asking is – was that it? Or will we see them in the future MCU or Sony’s Spiderverse? At this point in the MCU, anything seems possible, and we have a exciting update about Sam Raimi’s comments about the rumored Spider-Man 4.
Spider-Man 4 Is Very Much Possible
While promoting Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Raimi was asked about making another Spider-Man movie with Tobey Maguire. This took place during an interview with Fandango, to which he replied, that it isn’t happening right now, but anything is possible and he’d really like to make a film with Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst (Mary Jane). Read his full comment below:
I’ve come to realize after making Doctor Strange that anything is possible, really anything in the Marvel universe, any team-ups. I love Tobey. I love Kirsten Dunst. I think all things are possible. I don’t really have a story or a plan. I don’t know if Marvel would be interested in that right now. I don’t know what their thoughts are about that. I haven’t really pursued that. But it sounds beautiful. Even if it wasn’t a Spider-Man movie, I’d love to work with Tobey again, in a different role.
Though this doesn’t confirm anything, we know now that the director is open to making a film. Also, while we are on the subject of Tobey Maguire’s return in Spider-Man 4, Maguire himself previously stated that he isn’t done with Spiderman yet! Read about that here. Recently, Dunst also stated that she would really like to work with Marvel Studios once again. So, with the primary cast and the director ready to make a new film, I believe it’s only a matter of time till Marvel execs approve it. After all this movie could be a huge potential cash grab, But on a personal note, I think No Way Home concluded his story pretty well and bringing him back as a standalone Spider-Man can hamper his legacy. So, even though we’d really like to see SpideyMaguire again, none of us want to see it suffer a Terminator like fate.
