Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Full Plot Summary, Leaks and Spoilers!

The summer is upon us, which means that we’re going to get some of the biggest movies of the year in the next two months or so. This year definitely has a lot in store for us. Be it Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, Barbie, Oppenheimer, Blue Beetle, The Flash, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, Extraction 2 and Meg 2: The Trench all are releasing this summer. However, I might’ve left out the most hyped film of the summer: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse which was a smash hit in 2018 and also bagged the Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature. Naturally, the sequel has gathered buzz. So, has this buzz converted into box office sales? Let’s find out.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’s Hype Is Real!

Variety reports that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will earn $80 million at the domestic box office in its opening weekend. This may not be the biggest opening of the year but for an animated film especially Sony’s this is a big deal. Also, the studio has already greenlit the third film of this franchise, so such a bold box office opening will definitely work in favor of the creators. With this massive number, Across the Spider-Verse will double the opening figures of its predecessor, which opened at $37.5 million.

For a film mounted on a budget of $100 million, this is a great start. Also, it is important to note that this simply the domestic box office. The sequel is hyped throughout the world, which means this opening figure will simply get bigger and bigger.

The sequel stars Oscar Isaac, Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson and Issa Rae in prominent roles. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will releasing in theatres on 2nd June 2023.
