Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse was without any doubt, one of the best superhero films ever made. It was fun, it was unique, it was engaging, and at the same time, it was full of heart. Its unique and comic book like animation drew a lot of attention and was one of the primary reasons why it nabbed The Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film. It showcased exactly how multiversal storylines can work in modern times and served as an inspiration to many studios. Today, almost every superhero studio is busy creating their own multiverse. As you may be aware, its sequel Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse was all set to release this year but we have some bad news for you guys.
Spiderverse 2 Delayed to June 2023
That’s right, the film has been delayed from October 7 of this year to June 2, 2023. Sony announced the 8 months delay just now which has also pushed back Spiderverse 3 or Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse Part 2 from 2023 release to March 29, 2024. This is not the first time that the movie has experienced delays as it was scheduled for release in April 2022 but was later shifted to debut in October of this year.
Across the Spider-Verse entered production in 2020 and its first trailer debuted in December 2021. he trailer gave fans a look into how Miles would reunite with Hailee Steinfeld’s Gwen Stacy and explore the Multiverse further. He will eventually have to battle with Oscar Isaac’s Spider-Man in year 2099, making it a highly anticipated film. While the delays are really sad, but we’ll rather watch a perfectly crafted film than watch a rushed film with no substance or quality. That is what separated Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse form the lot and Sony better keep that!
