Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has been called one of the best superheroes films ever. While such high honor is only given to Nolan’s Batman films but Sony’s dive into animation and Spider-Verse has given them their best shot at making good use of their Spider-Man rights. The sequel is a better film than even its predecessor. With an IMDb rating of 9/10 (highest ever for a Superhero film) and a Rotten Tomatoes score of 96% it is fair to say that the critics love the film. Until now the film has earned $247 million and considering the hype it will continue to earn a lot more. All the love that the film received sets up the stage for the third Spider-Verse film which is not that far away from now making the release date of the Spider-verse 3 even more special.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse Is Coming Very Soon!

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse or Spider-Verse 3 will release on 29th March 2024 which means it will release only after 301 days after Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’s theatrical debut. If there are no delays and Beyond the Spider-Verse sticks to the release date then this will be the shortest gap between two direct Marvel sequels. What is interesting is it was a much longer wait between Spider-Verse 2 and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse which premiered on December 14, 2018. This resulted in a gap of 1631 days between the first two movies.

In the MCU, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame holds this release date record since both movies were released 364 days apart in 2018 and 2019. That being said there have been other Hollywood franchises who have had shorter gap between two films:

  • Kill Bill: Volume 1 (October 10, 2003) and Kill Bill: Volume 2 (April 16, 2004) were released 189 days apart from each other.
  • Back to the Future Part II (November 22, 1989) and Back to the Future Part III (May 25, 1990) had a 184-day gap between their theatrical premieres.
  • The Matrix Reloaded (May 15, 2003) and The Matrix Revolutions (November 5, 2003) had the shortest gap in-between release dates with 174 days.

The sequel stars Oscar Isaac, Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson and Issa Rae in prominent roles. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is currently playing in theatres near you.
