Andor Episode 12 Review - An Explosive Finale To End It All + Post Credits Explained THE DEATH STAR

You know a quality show when you see one and the new Star Wars spin-off, Andor is surely one of them. After largely disappointing The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor has breathed a fresh air into the Star Wars Universe. Andor  Even though he was one of the largely forgotten Star Wars characters, Diego Luna’s portrayal of Cassian Andor in Rogue One was one of the film’s strongest aspects. And while the outcome of Andor’s story is known, much of his past is still a mystery and so, this live-action prequel series centers around the rebel’s dark and sinister past. Star Wars just released the season finale aka Andor Episode 12 and without any further ado, here’s what we think about it! (Check out the all new Andor Pop action figure here!)

Andor Episode 12 Review – Welcome to the Rebellion!

Review Marathon – Episode 1, 2 & 3 / Episode 4 / Episode 5 / Episode 6 / Episode 7 / Episode 8 / Episode 9 / Episode 11

Rating – ★★★★★

Andor Finale was everything we expected it to be and more. It was highly thrilling and the pieces started falling in place right from the very first act of the episode. As expected, the entire episode took place on Ferrix, where the story began and the first arc took place. So, it was fitting that it ended on Ferrix and with the characters we loved from the very first episode. That said, there were quite a few losses in the episode but almost all the major players have made it out alive. What I absolutely loved about this episode was that, after 11 episodes of seeing our characters being awakened little by little, it all exploded into a direct rebellion! I mean the Aldhani robbery as well as the prison break too were acts of rebellion, but what happened on Ferrix was the most direct attack on the Empire by the PEOPLE.

Maarva ultimately played a huge role in inciting the people after having her own awakening a few episodes back. Fiona Shaw once again played the character tremendously and even though people saw her as a hologram, her speech landed and struck the chords among them as well as the viewers. That aside, the creative choice of adding a monologue by Nemik who died in Episode 6 was brilliant. Not only was that monologue exceptionally well written, it also hit on a different level considering how much Nemik believed in the cause. And it didn’t just affect the viewers, but it, along with Maarva’s monologue, lit the fire inside Cassian Andor and propelled him to join Luthen in the end.

I mean the show is exceptionally well written and how all these little things led to events of the finale is just PEAK. So, just to remind you where everyone stands – Andor has joined Luthen and the rebellion; Bee, Bix and Brasso have safely escaped; Mon Mothma has taken the marriage proposal for her daughter; Vel and Cinta have reunited; Melshi is on a quest to aware people of the events of Narkina 5; and Dendra Meero has been saved by Syril (a love story coming up?). So, that’s what happened to each of the major character in the finale. Honestly, every character has been written very passionately and skillfully and I have absolutely no complaints with any of the character arcs.

That said, there is one more thing that we need to talk about – the post credit scene. We talked about the leaked post credits scene a few days ago and it is exactly what happened. So basically, the part prisoners were building on Narkina 5 are actually being attached to the Death Star! Yes, we see droids assembling those star shaped parts on the rear end of the Death Star. The iconic Star Wars weapon is shown to be almost complete with only the final bits of its beam shooter under construction. As you may know, the Death Star was used for the very first time during the events of Rogue One and Andor season 2 will directly tie into it. So, everything has fallen into place in Andor season 1 finale, and we cannot wait to see what awaits us in season 2!

It goes without saying that this episode, just like the previous ones, checks all the technical boxes. It featured some excellent shots, a blood-pumping OST, short but well crafted action sequences, accurate costume designs, and a praiseworthy sound design. The production value of this series is something to behold as it has the potential to go up against the very best shows of 2022 which include House of the Dragon, Better Call Saul, and LOTR: The Rings of Power.

Final Verdict For Andor – So, yes, Andor is indeed the best Star Wars Live Action production in years. With that well crafted and rousing finale, Andor season 1 has ended on an all time high and proven worthy of the promise it made. Right from the premiere, we knew this show was going to be bonkers and I happy to say that it has delivered in every aspect of film-making. I am definitely not overselling it and if you have any doubts, you should check the show out yourself. It is a must watch!

Final Rating – ★★★★1/2 (Absolutely Unmissable)

The first season and all the 12 episodes of Star War: Andor are now airing on Disney Plus. Season 2 of Andor has now begun filming and will release next year debuting the final 12 episodes of the series.
