The world of ancient artifacts and dangerous tombs just got a little too real for Sophie Turner, the newest face of the legendary Lara Croft. Amazon MGM Studios officially hit the pause button on the highly anticipated Tomb Raider series after the Game of Thrones alum suffered a minor injury. While we were all ready to watch her scale cliffs and dodge traps, it looks like the only thing she will be dodging for the next few days is a busy filming schedule.
The Stunt That Went Sideways

Filming for the series kicked off earlier this year in January, but the high stakes of an action-heavy production have already claimed their first victim. According to official statements from the studio, Turner experienced a minor injury that required a brief halt in production. While they are keeping the specific details of the mishap under wraps, sources suggest the pause is a precautionary measure to ensure our favorite survivalist is back at 100% before she returns to her stunt-heavy duties.
Should Fans Be Worried?

Before you start mourning the loss of your new favorite show, take a deep breath. This is not a total shutdown. Insiders suggest the delay will only last about two weeks. For a production of this scale, a fourteen-day break is basically just a very long lunch period. The crew is still getting paid, the sets are still standing, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge is likely still being a genius in a trailer somewhere nearby.
“As a precaution, production has briefly paused to allow her time to recover. We look forward to resuming production as soon as possible,” Amazon MGM Studios shared in a statement.
The Road to Becoming Lara

Becoming a video game icon is not all fun and dual-wielding pistols. Sophie Turner has been open about the grueling physical demands of the role. She reportedly trained for eight hours a day for nearly a year to get into “Croft shape.” She even discovered a chronic back issue during the process, proving that jumping across crumbling ruins is much harder than it looks on a PlayStation controller.
Despite the hiccup, the hype for this series remains sky high. With a cast that includes Sigourney Weaver and Jason Isaacs, Amazon is clearly betting big on this adaptation. Fans are already obsessed with the first look images of Turner in the classic tank top and shorts, and this minor delay likely won’t push the release date back too far. We are still looking at a potential premiere in late 2026 or early 2027.
The North remembers how to survive, and so does Sophie Turner. She will be back to raiding tombs before you can finish your next Fallout marathon.
