Rent-A-Girlfriend is a popular Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Reiji Miyajima. It has been compiled into twenty-six volumes as of May 2022 and has also been adapted for anime which started airing in 2020. Season 2 of Rent a Girlfriend released its first trailer last month and it was also confirmed a few weeks ago that it will be getting a live action treatment. Well, it is pretty official now as casting has begun.
Rent A Girlfriend Live Action Release Date, Cast and Plot
The official website for the live-action series of Reiji Miyajima‘s Rent-A-Girlfriend manga revealed an awesome update today, i.e., Wednesday, 1st June 2022. Actress Shiori Akita has joined the cast as the character Mami Nanami. Mami Nanami serves as the main antagonist of the manga Rent-A-Girlfriend and its 2020 anime adaptation, and now the live action series as well. She is a Nerima University student and the ex-girlfriend of Kazuya Kinoshita. She apparently dumped Kazuya to date someone new and that is what kicks off the events of the series. Being a major character, her cast reveal becomes very important for the fans.
The synopsis of Rent A Girlfriend is as follows:
You can rent a girlfriend, but can you buy love? Hapless college first-year Kazuya Kinoshita, reeling from a bad breakup, rents a few hours of friendly companionship at the aquarium with the idol-beautiful and polite Chizuru. But rock bottom might be lower than Kazuya thought! Family, school, and life all start to go wrong, and to make matters worse, Chizuru is much more than the pretty face and sweet demeanor he thought he’d bargained for…
Apart from her, Ryūsei Ōnishi has been cast as the protagonist Kazuya Kinoshita and actress Hiyori Sakurada as the heroine Chizuru Mizuhara. Rent A Girl is being directed by Daisuke Yamamoto, and written by Kumiko Asō. The show is all set to air on the Asahi Broadcasting Corporation TV channel in July on Sundays sharp at 11:55 p.m.
