The Morning Show is one of the first Apple TV+ originals. The tech giant had bet huge on this show as they wanted to kick-off their streaming debut with a bang. Apple TV+ ordered an all star cast for this show. They pulled out all the stops. Jennifer Aniston in the lead along with Reese Witherspoon, Steve Carell and Billy Crudup. Apple certainly had a lot of faith in this show. While it was in development, the show was renewed for a 2nd Season without even testing its performance and popularity. The show had a wonderful 1st Season, it was may not have performed as well as Apple would’ve hoped for but it certainly delivered. The show was hailed by critics and audiences. The relentless nature of the show where it wants to include the real world events into the narrative of the show is praiseworthy.
The first season did it with the Me Too movement and the 2nd Season repeated history by including the Black Lives Matter movement along with the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Both the times, the scripts were ready and finalized but the writers chose to rewrite everything and include the recent happenings of the real world. The 2nd Season of the show came out last year and as expected was extremely well received however, Season 1 was better. The season ended on a note of uncertainty, with Alex being infected with Covid, Corey coming clean to Bradley about the leak, Mitch dying. Everything seems to be up in the air for every character in the show. Mitch’s death devoided the show of a major star as Steev Carell won’t be appearing anymore. With that in mind, Apple has clutched another golden egg in its basket as Mad Men star Jon Hamm joins the cast for Season 3.
The Morning Show – What is Jon Hamm’s Role in Season 3?
Jon Hamm who recently starred on the superhit Top Gun sequel- Top Gun: Maverick is joining the already impeccable cast of The Morning Show Season 3. Jon Hamm will be joining the cast as Paul Marks, a corporate titan who sets his sights on UBA, pulling Billy Crudup’s Cory, Jennifer Aniston’s Alex and Reese Witherspoon’s Bradley into his powerful orbit. Hamm’s addition to the show will certainly give it breath of fresh air and he’ll certainly be able to fill the void caused by Steve Carell’s Mitch.
He may be the antagonist of the show. This season might also be the last season of Jennifer Aniston’s Alex as the actress was previously unsure of returning to the show after the 2nd Season. There is a real possibility that the writers might wrap up her arc in season 3 similar to Carell’s Mitch. Reese Witherspoon has certainly grown into the show and has put forth one of the strongest performances in the entire show along with Cudrup’s Cory. The show is no stranger to Emmy nominations, with Cudrup bagging a Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in the 1st Season.

The show has bagged many nominations at Emmy’22 including Reese Witherspoon for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series and Crudup for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and Marcia Gay Harden for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series.
