When Will Bridgerton Season 3 Release?
Bridgerton season 2 came out in March 2022 but it was renewed for a season 3 and a season 4 back in April 2021 itself. Executive producer Shonda Rhimes was highly confident with their work and said, “This two-season pickup is a strong vote of confidence in our work and I feel incredibly grateful to have partners as collaborative and creative as Netflix. Betsy and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to continue bringing the world of Bridgerton to a worldwide audience.” As it happens, filming for Bridgerton Season 3 began in July 2022, after Netflix released a short teaser video that highlighted Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan together on set.
In March 2023, it was confirmed that the filming had been wrapped up and in June 2023, the first looks at Season 3 were revealed at TUDUM event. So, technically the season should have been out already or about to come out by year end. However, series actress Adjoa Andoh, who plays Lady Danbury, confirmed that Season 3 will be released in 2024. The reason for this delay is unknown but the strikes, and unavailability of cast for marketing might have something to do with it. Anyways, to the disappointment of fans, Bridgerton Season 3 would now release in early 2024.
Season 3 Cast and Plot
The pretty long official synopsis for Season 3 is pretty self explanatory. It reads, “Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) has finally given up on her long-held crush on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) after hearing his disparaging words about her last season. She has, however, decided it’s time to take a husband, preferably one who will provide her with enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, far away from her mother and sisters. But lacking in confidence, Penelope’s attempts on the marriage mart fail spectacularly. Meanwhile, Colin has returned from his summer travels with a new look and a serious sense of swagger. But he’s disheartened to realize that Penelope. the one person who always appreciated him as he was, is giving him the cold shoulder.
Eager to win back her friendship, Colin offers to mentor Penelope in the ways of confidence to help her find a husband this season. But when his lessons start working a little too well, Colin must grapple with whether his feelings for Penelope are truly just friendly. Complicating matters for Penelope is her rift with Eloise (Claudia Jessie), who has found a new friend in a very unlikely place, while Penelope’s growing presence in the ton makes it all the more difficult to keep her Lady Whistledown alter ego a secret.” As for the cast, Phoebe Dynevor, who played Season 1’s lead character Daphne, the Duchess of Hastings, confirmed she won’t return.
