The Mandalorian has done for the Star Wars franchise, what the sequels and animation could never do. It launched an entire cinematic universe giving Disney and Lucasfilm enough confidence to execute all their plans. After The Mandalorian, which is the best thing that came out of Star Wars bag, we were given The Book of Boba Fett. Though it was no Mandalorian, its final three episodes were everything Star Wars fans ever wanted. Now as we brace ourselves for the release of Obi-Wan Kenobi in two days, rumors of Darth Vader appearing in Ahsoka series are circulating. So are these rumors true?
Darth Vader Must Appear in Ahsoka Series
The next Star Wars series which is placed between the original trilogy and sequels timeline is Ahsoka. As you may know, it is based on the character of Ahsoka Tano portrayed by Rosario Dawson in the Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. It will showcase her origin as well as a new mission based in the current Mandalorian timeline. She was originally introduced in the animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and later on appeared in The Clone Wars series and Star Wars Rebels making her one of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars franchise.
She made her live action debut in The Mandalorian and helped Mando on his quest to deliver Grogu to a Jedi. Some of you might be aware that Ahsoka was Anakin Skywalker’s Padawan before he fell to the dark side. So, it makes a lot of sense for Anakin Skywalker to appear in the series when they showcase Ahsoka’s early days. He might not appear as Darth Vader, but we definitely expect Hayden Christensen’s cameo as Anakin. As you might know he is all set to return as Anakin/Darth Vader in Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Even though both IMDB and Wikipedia casting mention Hayden’s name it hasn’t been confirmed yet by Lucasfilms. But again, it is almost necessary that Anakin appears in the series. These guy literally created a CGI Luke Skywalker to bring him back in a cameo in The Book of Boba Fett. So, what exactly would stop them from filming Hayden’s cameo as he is under a contract? That’s right, nothing, so Anakin Skywalker will surely make an appearance in Ahsoka. Here’s what Hayden Christensen said about it in a recent interview with Capital FM, “I don’t know, I can’t really speak to the Ahsoka series. I don’t know about that one.”
Will The Mandalorian and Grogu/Baby Yoda Return in the Ahsoka Series?
Ever since the release of The Mandalorian, Lucasfilm and Disney have realized a simple fact – Baby Yoda is a cash machine. That is precisely the reason The Mandalorian and Grogu returned in The Book of Boba Fett. It also confirmed that Grogu has chosen Din Djarin and will return in the Mandalorian season 3. Ahsoka has met Mando and Grogu two times now both in both The Mandalorian season 2 and TBOBF.
So it is quite possible they will make a cameo in the Ahsoka series as it seems like they have developed a bond with Ahsoka. Not just that, Star Wars has confirmed that all these shows are a part of bigger universe they called “The Mandalorian Universe”. Therefore, Mando basically serves as the connecting thread for all these characters in the timeline and maybe, just maybe all this will lead to a bigger battle. I mean who wouldn’t want to see Mandalorian, Grogu, Ahsoka Tano, Boba Fett, and Bo-Katan fight together? Maybe Giancarlo Esposito’s Moff Gideon would turn out to be the main villain of this new Mandalorian Universe and it takes all our heroes to bring him down.
This part of Star Wars universe is surely very exciting but then we have shows like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor which aren’t a part of this timeline. These shows might not lead to something bigger and might just serve as a single tracked narrative. As for Star Wars: Ahsoka, it is all set to release in 2023 and will take the Mandalorian universe forward.
