Andor Episode 6 Cinematography

You know a quality show when you see one and the new Star Wars spin-off, Andor is surely one of them. After largely disappointing The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor has breathed a fresh air into the Star Wars Universe. Andor  Even though he was one of the largely forgotten Star Wars characters, Diego Luna’s portrayal of Cassian Andor in Rogue One was one of the film’s strongest aspects. And while the outcome of Andor’s story is known, much of his past is still a mystery and so, this live-action prequel series centers around the rebel’s dark and sinister past. Star Wars just released Andor Episode 6 and without any further ado, here’s what we think about this surprisingly good show!

Andor Episode 6 Review – Non Stop Thrill Ride

The pattern of Andor so far has been, two episodes of sheer buildup and then one rewarding sub-conclusion. So, while episode 3 succeeded in rewarding fans after two slow burning episodes, did Episode 6 manage to do the same? Well, I am pleased to inform you that it not only was highly rewarding but it at the same time was highly heartbreaking as well. That said, it successfully saved the previous two episodes which were rather sluggish but here everything pays off.

The episode was a nail-biter right from the start to the end and managed to deliver all we expected and more. The rebel heist was a highly successful one but it wasn’t without its costs. We lost basically half the team including Taramyn, Karis Nemik, and Arvel Skeens (who frankly had it coming). While Taramyn died fighting the guards and trying to save Vel, that wasn’t the case with Nemik and Skeens. They both received highly shocking deaths as they both made it out of the heist but it was something else that killed them.

Nemik got crushed by their own loot but still went on to save the party with his dying breath. Andor and Skeens decided to take him to a doctor and we were pretty sure he’ll make it out. On the contrary, he succumbed to his injuries and then in another shocking moment, Skeens revealed his betrayal plan to Andor. As a result, Andor went on to shoot Skeens, take a bit of the loot, and granting Vel a safe passage as well. Obviously, Vel didn’t like Andor’s move and we are unsure if she believes Andor’s version of killing Skeens or not. It looked like she understood but she was literally held at the gun point by Andor, so guess we’ll have to see what’s her take on this in future episodes.

Honestly, most fans believed that it was Cinta who might die in the heist but evidently she survived it and instead, rest of the party took the bullet. Anyways, we are happy that she has survived and that she can reunite with Vel in future. But at the same time, we are heartbroken by the one too many deaths in this episode. At this point, it seems like none of the characters except for the ones wearing plot armor, are safe in this show. Aside, from the shock and awe in this episode, it was a beautiful audio visual experience. The cinematography, CGI, and locations were simply mesmerizing and the exhilarating score still remains the strongest aspect of the show.

That aside, the action in this episode was also well executed and didn’t at all feel cheap and pretentious like Obi-Wan Kenobi or even The Book of Boba Fett. Andor is without doubt the best Star Wars thing since The Mandalorian season 2. So, before we get to the final verdict, let us recap where the surviving characters are right now. Andor is about to escape, Vel and Cinta are about to reunite soon, Luthen is happy ’cause his plan worked out but doesn’t yet realize the cost of this success, Syril and Caleen were absent from the episode, and finally, Mon and Dedra Meero had barely anything to do.

Final Verdict – Once again Andor has proven its quality as Episode 6 is not only a well executed conclusion of the previous two episodes, but is also one of the best Star War episodes to date. It is visually stunning, dramatically exhilarating, as well as genuinely thrilling and shocking in the entirety of its runtime. So, yes, Disney and Lucasfilm have completely nailed this show!

The first six episodes of Star War: Andor are now airing on Disney Plus and we’ll see you next week when we bring you our Episode 7 verdict.
