Ms. Marvel Episode 3 Premise
The third episode of Ms. Marvel opens with the finding of the magical bangle in British India by Kamala’s aunt, and along with her friends before being separated from them in an unfortunate situation. In the present, its revealed that the friends of Kamala’s aunt were very much alive and one of them is actually Kamran’s Mom. They were revealed to be Clandestines or “Djinn”, according to Kamala’s religion. They want to go back to their home world and need Kamala’s help to use her powers for the inter-dimensional travel.
How is Episode 3?
Episode 3 of Ms. Marvel is a fun ride. The episode hits all the notes and right chords when it comes to progressing the plot. We get the bad guys of the show with this episode, though they don’t really seem that menacing. Maybe for Kamala, as she’s still a child and the Clandestines can still be a formidable opponents. The stakes were raised to a proficient level and the story picks up pace. The execution of action scenes in this episode is a notch above than previous ones.
What could have been better?
The villains doesn’t have much depth and feel very one-dimensional. The writers should have fleshed out more of their backstories, but that doesn’t mean we wouldn’t see anything about them in the next episodes. The episode although fun for the most part and well-balanced, gets engaging and more interesting in the final few minutes with action. The villains should have been presented in a better way but since this is a light-weight teen superhero story from Marvel, small flaws like these can be forgiven.
