The new era of Star Wars in shaping up to be pretty good owing to The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. While these two shows were based in the post original trilogy timeline, Obi-Wan Kenobi will be set in a different era. As you might be aware, it will be set between the prequel trilogy and the original trilogy and will follow the story of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Obi-Wan Kenobi Release Date and Poster
The first poster for Obi-Wan Kenobi was released a few days ago by Disney and it showcases Obi-Wan Kenobi talking a long walk in the desert just like Mandalorian. The original Disney Plus Star Wars series is all set to debut on 25th May, 2022 which is just 3 months away now. It is set ten years after the events of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005), and is written by Joby Harold and directed by Deborah Chow.
Some important updates you should know about the series are as follows. Ewan McGregor will be reprising his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi from the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Hayden Christensen will also be returning as Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader aka the Father of Luke Skywalker. So, we can expect to see a rematch between the two fan-favorite characters in the upcoming series. Also, Jimmy Smits’ Bail Organa, Joel Edgerton’s Owen Lars, and Bonnie Piesse’s Beru Lars are now confirmed to appear. The biggest news though is that the legend, John Williams is out of his retirement to score the series.
Obi-Wan Kenobi and Princess Leia
Even after knowing each other for years, never once have these two characters shared the screen in a Star Wars production. There was just one scene where a hologram of Leia addresses Obi-Wan and that’s it. So, fans are pretty excited to see them together on screen and that will happen in this upcoming production. The show will explore the time between the events of Order 66 and Vader’s rise to the beginning of the Rebellion. Therefore, Obi-Wan will surely cross paths with young Luke and Leia in the series.
Latest leaks suggest that the 10-year-old princess Leia will require Obi-Wan’s help while being held prisoner in a “Cantina-like establishment.” Kenobi will be asked to rescue her using his Jedi prowess and that will set them of on a possible journey together. Remind you of something? I bet it does! This is exactly how the story of the Mandalorian and Grogu/Baby Yoda began. Though we do not expect the journey of Leia and Kenobi to last throughout the series, but it will be a major part of it. So, get your tissues and hankies out as Obi-wan Kenobi might be quite an emotional ride full of tear jerking moments.
