Percy Jackson and the Olympians Trailer Released by Disney!

Percy Jackson novel series by writer Rick Riordan is one of the most influential pieces of fiction for anyone born in the early 2000s. After the success of the first book in 2005, Riordan created an entire saga that exploits Greek mythology and places them in the modern world. After the first book, Riordan added another 4 noteworthy sequels to the series. The Percy Jackson saga came to an end with the series’ last book in 2009, Percy Jackson and The Last Olympian. Once the book series had culminated there were attempts to make the books into movies and create another powerful IP like Harry Potter. The book series’ success was certainly something that backed this idea. The first movie came out in 2010 and it adapted the first novel- Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief. I think everyone agrees that it was one of the worst adaptations ever.

Nevertheless, they tried to make this a franchise and made a second movie that adapted the second novel Percy Jackson and The Sea of Monsters but when that film crashed as well I think the studio understood. Since then there were no attempts to adapt the Greek Mythology inspired book series until Disney+ decided to make it into a show. A show seems like a better format for such material as a movie would be too confining.  It looks like the novels would finally get a well deserved faithful adaptation. After a much of leaked photos from the sets of the series, today we have finally gotten some taste of real footage from the show.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Teaser Includes Rick Riordan’s Iconic Line!

At D23 Expo after all the Marvel and Lucasfilm announcements, Disney finally revealed and released a teaser for the much controversial Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. The footage we got is barely a minute and it is literally a teaser. Nothing about the plot or story is spilled out. This teaser is simply to hook in the fans of the books, I’m guessing. As all the lines spoken in the trailer are directly from the first page of Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief book.

And not any line, the lines used are pretty iconic for anyone familiar with the books. Talking about the footage, we mostly see the half-blood camp that is situated in a forest setting. We see Percy played Walker Scobell walking around the camp. Some brief shots of the students present in he half-blood camp. The Teaser ends with a shot of Percy panting. His hair looks wet and we can assume that he is close to the sea. Maybe he meets his father here. I don’t know just guessing here.

Regardless, I love their use of the lines, “If you think you might be one of us, my advice is: turn away while you still can, don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
