However, Lucas Film seems to be interested to explore more of the renowned Jedi’s hidden past sandwiched between the Star Wars prequels and sequels. Though initially marketed as a miniseries, according to the sources Season 2 of Obi-Wan Kenobi is in works.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 Details

The first season of Obi-Wan Kenobi consists of six-episodes and is going to conclude this month on June 22, 2022. All the episodes were directed by Deborah Chow who previously helmed some episodes of The Mandalorian while Joby Harold served as the showrunner. Sources state Disney and Lucasfilm have decided to greenlit season 2 of Kenobi, despite previously calling it a limited series. Additional details like cast, filming window were currently unknown but the sources claim the ending of Obi-Wan Kenobi is going to be changed to leave the door open for Season 2.

Obi Wan Kenobi Planned Season 1 Ending

Originally, according to the leaks the show is reported to end with the death of the third-sister Reva at the hands of Lord Vader. Reva lies to him about killing Kenobi, after learning that Vader’s son Luke is alive. This is a complete 360 degree turn to Reva’s arc and a big change in her character direction. Vader senses her lies and finding out she killed the grand inquisitor, slays her for her betrayal. Apparently this scene is now changed or amended according to the recent leaks to pave way for season 2. So Reva very much lives by the end of this season but where her character goes in season 2 can be expected only after the finale of this season.

In recent times, Kathleen Kennedy who runs the Lucasfilm also said the window is open for season 2 of Obi-Wan Kenobi to happen. Ewan McGregor who portrays the titular Jedi also voiced his interest to return for a season 2 of the show at the Star Wars Celebration event. Not only McGregor, Hayden Christensen who plays Obi-Wan’s arch-nemesis, Darth Vader also expressed interest to come back for more and play the iconic role. There are also unconfirmed rumors that Haydensen will appear in the new live-action Ahsoka show reprising Vader.
