Disney is having a rough year with most of its 2023 releases being box office duds. Marvel Studios has been the most unreliable it has been in years. It is estimated that the House of Mouse has lost $1 billion in 2023. Disney’s live action remakes which have proven to be successful in the past are failing as well. The reboot I’m referring to is The Little Mermaid starring Halle Bailey as Ariel, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Awkwafina as Scuttle, Melissa McCarthy as the evil Ursula, Javier Bardem as King Triton, and more. There was a lot of controversy and chatter regarding the film but that didn’t help its box office performance. If you happen to have missed the film in theatres, its box office numbers suggests you have, then now you have a chance to watch it at your house as the film will soon be available on Disney Plus.

The Little Mermaid Reboot Is Soon Coming To Disney Plus!

Just one month ago, we got an update that the Disney reboot was available for digital purchase in the US from Tuesday, July 25th on the distributing platforms like Amazon, Apple, Vudu, and Google. Also, the physical formats of The Little Mermaid remake like Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD will be available for purchase on Tuesday, September 19. When it comes to the streaming release date it was suspected that it would be alongside its digital release which is approximately a 60 days theatrical window.

However, Disney really surprised us as the reboot didn’t release in July or in August as well. Shared on the official Disney+ X (formerly Twitter) account, “All the wonder, magic and FUN of” The Little Mermaid is set to swim onto the streaming platform on September 6. Avatar 2 also took more than 60 days to come to Disney+ but that was because of the sequel’s unsurmountable success. The Little Mermaid made minimum to no dent at the box office. So, I’m not sure why it took so much time. Check out the full post below:

The Little Mermaid reboot will release in physical formats of Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on Tuesday, September 19 and start streaming on Disney Plus from September 6th.
