The fate of the Fantastic Beasts saga and the remaining 2 films, i.e., Fantastic Beasts 4 and Fantastic Beasts 5, currently hangs in balance. But that doesn’t mean it is the end of our beloved wizarding world’s live action ventures. Harry Potter is one of the most profitable franchise for WB and even though Fantastic Beasts: Secrets of Dumbledore didn’t bring in huge numbers, it brought in enough. Today, we have some good news for the rather patient Potterheads, as it seems like their fandom will soon be rewarded.
More Harry Potter Productions Coming Soon
It seems like the newly appointed CEO of Warner Bros., David Zaslav, has some awesome plans in mind for the Harry Potter universe. It has been reported that he is eager to make more Potter-related content for HBO Max and has decided to meet J.K. Rowling for the same. On the matter, The Wall Street Journal Reported:
At the same time, Mr. Zaslav is looking to make fresh “Harry Potter”-related content for HBO Max—Warner Bros. made all the wizarding franchise’s movies—people familiar with his thinking said, and plans to meet with creator J.K. Rowling in the coming weeks to discuss the matter.
While, Rowling does not plan to write any more books in the bestselling series, she is serving as one of the screenwriters in the Fantastic Beasts franchise. So, it is possible that she serves as the screenwriters for a few more future projects in Potterverse. While it was earlier reported she might not be directly involved in HBO Max’s projects, it is possible that the said meeting changes things a little. As for the speculated content, nothing much is known about it but we’ll sure hear more in the upcoming months.
After the release of Fantastic Beasts 3, fans do not have much to look forward in the cinematic Potterverse for a few years. So, instead they are looking towards other Potterverse projects. These include the Potter stage production, which wasn’t written by Rowling as well as the upcoming open world video game Hogwarts Legacy. Hogwarts Legacy is an upcoming action role-playing video game developed by Avalanche Software and published by WB. It is set to be released in late 2022 for PC, Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Potterheads be sure to check out this game as it sounds amazing and would be the first new gen video game from the popular franchise.
