House of the Dragon is the prequel to one of the biggest show in TV history – Game of Thrones. It is based on George R.R. Martin’s work, Fire & Blood. HBO has a number of Game of Thrones spin-offs/prequels lined up, to be precise seven. House of the Dragon is the first prequel for HBO and it wants the show to fly. A lot of people have their heads on the line for this project. The fate of the rest of the GOT shows resides on this. The show is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and will focus on one particular house – House Targaryen.
The HBO show has an incredible ensemble cast that includes Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Fabien Frankel, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans. Along with the main cast, the supporting cast of the show includes- Milly Alcock, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Emily Carey, Harry Collett, Ryan Corr, Tom Glynn-Carney, Jefferson Hall, David Horovitch, Wil Johnson, John Macmillan, Graham McTavish, Ewan Mitchell, Theo Nate, Matthew Needham, Bill Paterson, Phia Saban, Gavin Spokes, Savannah Steyn, and more.
House of the Dragon Trailer Gives Us the Best Look Yet
The fantasy drama will offer viewers the dramatic, historic & bloody story of the Seven Kingdoms being formed. With the highly-anticipated series set to make a big splash at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend with Martin, Condal & Sapochnik. Until now we’ve been getting official stills where we saw Matt Smith’s Daemon Targaryen and Emma D’Arcy’s Rhaenyra Targayren. After that we did get a little footage from the show where we saw two tiny teaser trailers of the show.
The next promotional material we got was a BTS featurette starring George R.R. Martin. However, we never got a full fledged trailer for the show. With Comic Con just around the corner and the show debuting next month we expected to see a full trailer of the show this week. However, HBO has surprised all of us by releasing an awesome trailer for the show one day before SDCC. Considering the kind of panel HBO has planned for House of the Dragon it seems there is something big coming.
Here are the details: HBO has booked a full panel with George R.R. Martin making an appearance along with the showrunners and the entire cast of the show, it is clear that HBO wants to make this their next big Fantasy series, especially now that Amazon Prime Video is coming out with its Lord of the Rings series- Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power show. Considering the massive hype around the show, we were hoping that we’ll get a trailer for the show.
Although, now that we’ve already gotten that, I wonder are we going to get something more than a trailer that at Comic Con considering the size of the panel. Will the fans get to see the first 15 minutes of the Pilot or will HBO reveal the entire Pilot of the show to the fans? We don’t know, but the trailer looks amazing. One of the best I’ve seen this year. This was one of the shows I was looking forward to this year, the trailer just put it at the top. Check out the epic trailer below:
The trailer suggests betrayals, plots, wars, blood and most importantly… a lot of Dragons. We’ll even get to see the great Dragon that GOT teased us about- Balerion the Dread. The trailer makes it look like the main plot of the show will revolve around the next heir to the Iron Throne after King Viserys I. He has to choose between his daughter and brother.As it stands right now the story may seems a little thin but I’m sure there are so many layers to the story and I’m excited to uncover all of them.
House of the Dragon will debut on HBO and HBO Max from 21st August 2022.
