The Last of Us Episode 5 Gets A Sooner Release Date

The Last of Us has already become the biggest show of 2023, while it is still early but I see very less candidates who might surpass the numbers brought in by the adaptation already. The overwhelming response to the show proves how maturely HBO had handled this venture. Honestly, they’d taken all the steps in the right direction. They recruited HBO fame- Craig Mazin (Creator and Writer) to be the showrunner of the show along with the game’s creator- Neil Druckmann. Along with that there is heavy investment from the network as the budget of the first season of the series is at least $100 Million. The hard work behind the show has not gotten unnoticed as the show had HBO’s second biggest debut of 4.7 Million, just behind House of the Dragon (10 Million).

The subsequent episodes all saw a viewership jump from the previous episode. The show has garnered an average audience of 21.3 Million which means HBO now has four different shows across genres which have an average viewership of more than 15 Million. Apart from Last of Us, “The White Lotus” Season 2 (which concluded in December 2022) at 15.5 million, “House of the Dragon” (which concluded its first season in October 2022) at 29 million, and “Euphoria” Season 2 (which concluded in February 2022) with 19.5 million. The fourth episode of the show aired today and if the cliffhanger is killing you then don’t worry because the fifth episode is set to debut earlier than it was expected to.

The Last of Us Episode 5 Will Debut Sooner!

The Last of Us episode 5 is set to debut earlier on the streaming platform unlike its usual streaming schedule which is at 9pm on Sunday. The reason for this is reportedly the Super Bowl game that is on 12th February 2023, played between Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs. The Super Bowl is definitely the biggest sporting event that happens in the US every year. The viewership of the hit HBO series will definitely take a major dip if it debuts at the same time as the game. It is a wise decision from HBO to release the new episode early.

The Last of Us has already been renewed for a second season. The show already has over 9.2/10 rating on IMDb which is amazing even though these are early days and it will take just one episode for everything to fall apart. However, until now the show has managed to maintain is quality if not increase it with each new episode. Don’t forget to check out The Last of Us Episode 5 earlier on 10th February at 9pm, Friday. This way you can enjoy the new episode as well as the Super Bowl.

Pedro Pascal leads the cast of The Last of Us as Joel, a smuggler hired to deliver Bella Ramsey’s Ellie, a teenager immune to the Cordyceps brain infection that has wiped out the world, to a group of survivors working to manufacture a cure. Alongside Pascal and Ramsey, the cast for HBO’s The Last of Us adaptation includes Gabriel Luna, Merle Dandridge, Jeffrey Pierce, Anna Torv, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Nick Offerman and Storm Reid.

The first four episode of The Last of Us is available for streaming on HBO Max or Disney+ Hotstar, new episodes would release every week.
