Westworld Season 4 Episode 7 Man in Black World End

Westworld Season 4 Episode 7 is out now. Westworld Season 4 had started on an underwhelming note and the first two episodes of Season 4 felt like HBO milking one of their best shows passed its living days. But ever since then, it has been climbing its way up and has seen a significant upgrade in quality. Episode 4, and 5 were some of the best of the series and Episode 6 set up what’s to come in the final two episodes. To be honest, this penultimate episode did deliver but left us all confused and unable to figure out what happened.

Westworld Season 4 Episode 7 – Where are Dolores and Teddy?

So, before we proceed, let’s do a quick head count. Maeve is dead, Bernard is dead, Hale is dead, Teddy and Dolores aren’t real and The Man in Black is back to being OP gamer in the house. Am I right? I like how finally the show has levelled up William and given him the original costume as well as his original purpose. He always rooted for a game of survival and was finally able to set up the ultimate game as hosts, humans, and rebels battle it out to impress Charles Dickens.

Among all the craziness, one thing confused everyone, which was Teddy and Dolores’ purpose and existence. We know what rest of the parties aim to do but Dolores and Teddy have been mysterious since episode 1 and this episode made it clear that they aren’t indeed a part of the real world. So, what are they? I believe Dolores is in the sublime which explains how Teddy is there as well. As you may remember, Dolores uploaded Teddy in the sublime during season 2 finale to give him the happy ending he needed. And in the beginning of this episode Bernard and Maeve left the sublime open, so it is possible that some of the hosts there (including Teddy and Dolores) might be able to help in this war for survival. What exactly it all means, will be uncovered in the finale and just like you, we also are just theorizing.

Who is Alive and Who is Dead?

This is the trickiest question to answer in Westworld as everyone is dead but no one is really ever dead. So, it seems like human Caleb and human William are sure dead however their host versions are still alive. As for Maeve, Hale, and Bernard, William headshot-ted them which means their pearls have been destroyed, however all that might be reversed in the finale. Bernard told Stubbs he’ll die, but instead Bernard died whereas Stubbs is still going strong and so is Frankie (who is a human as of now).

As for Teddy and Dolores, they might be in the sublime and be reflections in the real world. The sequence where they exited the hallway and Stubbs-Frankie walked in totally f***d everyone’s mind and I firmly believe they are somehow acting via sublime. Finally, William is alive in his host form and has entered do or die mode to feel alive once again and watch the world burn. We did not see this coming and for now William is the big bad of the season. So, that’s the current state and motive of every existing major player in the series. One last thing, I really hope to see an Anthony Hopkins’ Robert Ford cameo in the finale, especially if it is going to be the series finale.

Final Verdict – Westworld Season 4 Episode 7 knocked our brains out of the park and has left us clueless as to what’ll go down in the finale. A compelling and interesting narrative combined with excellent VFX, score, and editing has resulted in this mind-boggling and captivating episode which leaves us rooting for the finale.
