After Better Call Saul, What Is Next for the Breaking Bad universe

Breaking Bad is one of the best pieces of cinema ever created. It is still the highest rated show on IMDB and it is something which gets better and better with each passing episode. Ahh, I wish I could watch it for the first time again but honestly that’s not required. Its prequel Better Call Saul is just as good as Breaking Bad itself and is currently on its sixth and final run. Just like BB, it starts of slow but builds up amazingly leading to whatever’s in store for us in this final season.

As many of you might be aware, the season will be split into two parts much like Breaking Bad’s final season. Better Call Saul Season 6 Part 1 will debut its sixth episode tomorrow (16th May) and its final episode on 27th May 2022. Post that, the series will go on a short 1.5 month hiatus and return with Better Call Saul Season 6 Part 2 on  11th July 2022. Part will consist of the last 6 episodes of the series which will conclude the show as well as Saul Goodman’s future arc. So, is that it? Is it the end of Breaking Bad Universe? False!

Will There Be Any Other Spin Offs From Breaking Bad?

In one word, yes! Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould made it abundantly clear that there are still a few stories left to tell. While on the topic, Gilligan stated, “There are stories left to tell, but it’s not proving something to the world, it’s about proving something to yourself. That thing I’m working on, hopefully someone will want to buy it, someone will want to make it.”

Gilligan is working on something related to the Breaking Bad Universe and he says it’s very different from the rest of the crime filled universe. To be precise he said, “It’s something really different. It’s a remake of Trapper John, M.D. I haven’t told my wife about it.” So, there is surely something in store for the fans but what exactly is it?

Will There Be Another Series or Movie in the Breaking Bad universe?

Who knows what it is but it could be a movie or even a full blown spin-off show. When Gilligan says it’s not related to crime side of the universe, that eliminates cartel characters as well sequel hopes for Jesse Pinkman’s solo adventures. So, this leaves us with limited options and here are two ideas on what it could be about. First, in case Kim Wexler somehow survives Better Call Saul, we could get a spin-off regarding her. Second, a spin off on RJ Mitte’s Walter White Jr. which might follow his adjustment to the world he’ll face post his father’s sins.

But honestly, both these ideas might involve crime in some aspects and will not entirely be different from the universe. So, what exactly is Vince Gilligan planning? Why is he doubtful that it won’t get picked up? If you have any ideas regarding the same, do share in the comments below. Till then, follow our weekly Better Call Saul Season 6 coverage!
