Netflix’s next big fantasy film Damsel was announced after the success of Enola Holmes’s movie. Both films star Millie Bobby Brown. The filming of Damsel ended in July 2022 and was set to release in October 2023. However, Netflix pushed it to 2024. Damsel follows the trials of a young woman (Millie Bobby Brown). The royal family arranges her marriage to a prince. When she sets out to marry the prince, she realizes she is going to be sacrificed to a dragon. The marriage is just a ploy. In the beginning, she believes she just has to survive long enough for somebody else to protect her as a “damsel in distress.” Soon, she realizes that she’ll have to be her own protector.

Princess Elodle (Brown) believes she is going to marry her Prince Charming. However, her world turns upside down when she is sacrificed to a dragon instead and now she has to survive on her own. Lady Bayford (Angela Bassett) is the stepmother of Princess Elodie. Queen Isabelle (Robin Wright) plays a role in tricking Princess Elodie. The King (Ray Winstone) is residing between duty and love. He likely feels a sense of guilt for sacrificing a princess to a dragon. Prince Henry (Nick Robinson) is Princess Elodie’s love interest in Damsel.
There is also some information regarding the supporting characters, although vague. Ricky Guillart plays a role in Damsel named Sir Oded. Brooke Carter plays Princess Elodie and she is playing the character of Prince Henry’s younger sister. Shohreh Aghdashloo also appears in the movie in a role.
