December 18th. Mark it, circle it, romanticise it!!! Because Emily in Paris is returning to Netflix with its season 5, and I am already emotionally seated. Few shows understand chaos, couture, and complicated love triangles the way this one does, and after everything the previous season put us through, my excitement for the upcoming season is sky-high.
Who’s Back and Where We Left Off
First of all, the trailer tease was cruel. Keeping Gabriel completely out of it? That is not a subtle mystery; that is DELIBERATE EMOTIONAL MANIPULATION. And it worked. Because now I’m more curious than ever about where his story is headed… and more importantly, where his story with Emily is headed.
Of course, Lily Collins is back as the ever-hopeful, ever-overdressed Emily Cooper, joined by the fabulous core cast: Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu as the effortlessly commanding Sylvie, Ashley Park as the scene-stealing Mindy Chen, Samuel Arnold as Julien, Bruno Gouery as Luc (our beloved chaos king), and William Abadie as Antoine.
The love triangle, or should I say LOVE PENTAGON AT THIS POINT, is also fully intact. Yes, all three of Emily’s love interests are returning: Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), and Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini)… despite endless speculation about Bravo’s future on the show. If nothing else, Emily in Paris remains deeply committed to keeping us romantically stressed.
However, one noticeable absence will be Camille Razat, who played Camille across the first four seasons. Her exit feels like THE END OF AN ERA… especially given how central her character was to both Emily and Gabriel’s story. LOVE HER OR HATE HER, Camille shaped the emotional architecture of this show, and her absence will definitely shift the dynamics.
Emily in Paris Season 5 Possibilities, Theories, and More!

Now let’s talk about what has me truly intrigued: the possible spark between Mindy and Alfie. Sources suggest something might be simmering there… And honestly? I wouldn’t hate it. Mindy’s vibrant confidence paired with Alfie’s grounded charm could be unexpectedly electric. Would it complicate things? Absolutely.
Would I watch every second? Without hesitation. But I’ll throw the question back to you: Would you want to see them together? Still, at the heart of my hope lies one wish: Emily and Gabriel. Messy, imperfect, frustrating, magnetic. Their story has been unresolved for far too long, and I’m ready for clarity, commitment, or at least emotional honesty. It’s time.
And finally, a question worth debating: Emily in Paris or Emily in Rome? Paris is iconic, but Rome? Rome carries romance, chaos, history, and drama…everything this show thrives on. I’m torn… and that excites me most.
DECEMBER 18 CAN’T GET HERE FAST ENOUGH.
