In today’s cinematic landscape most productions want to be safe and hence we see little to no fresh concepts. Its an era of remakes, sequels, and replication of concepts. In such a situation Netflix’ Love, Death + Robots stands out due to its highly experimentative and though provoking ideas and concepts. That aside, LDR also experiments a lot with animation technology and you’ll see episodes with 2D animation, CGI animation, Motion Capture, animation overlay on live action, Japanese anime-like tech and what not. Each of these episodes stand alone and barely last 15 minutes of runtime but within those 15 minutes, most of them leave a significant impact on the viewers. So, if you are cinema freak who’s looking for innovations, you have to have seen Love, Death and Robots, and if you have seen it, then we have some cool information for you guys.
LOVE, DEATH + ROBOTS Season 4 Release Date, Trailer, and More
LDR season 3 debuted on May 2022 and consisted a total of 9 episodes. The season received solid critical acclaim and love from fans as it delivered back to back excellent episodes barring a few. But then again, each episode hits everyone differently so even the critically mediocre episodes had a lots of takers and admirers. That aside, Episode 2 “Bad Travelling” was directed by the legendry filmmaker David Fincher himself, and it widely considered to be the best of the entire series. So, with such acclaim there was no doubt that it was getting renewed and in August 2022, Netflix confirmed Love, Death + Robots Season 4.
Netflix and the Love Death and Robots took to their Twitter and Instagram accounts and shared a quick teaser officially confirming the show’s renewal. Check out the short teaser for season 4 below!
But since then there has been little to no update about the series’ return and now fans are getting a bit impatient. And while we do not have answers to most of your questions we do have some. Now we do not know the exact release date but the fourth season will most likely debut in Q2 this year. If you track its release, then previous 2 seasons have release back to back in May of 2021 and 2022. And with no signs of a new pandemic around, we are pretty sure we can expect the same this year as well. But rest assured, it is surely coming out in 2023!
Moving on, LDR season 4 will be produced by Tim Miller and David Fincher and we also expect some episodes directed by them. Tim Miller has directed 3 episodes (one in each season) so far and David Fincher has directed the one mentioned above. The episodes directed by these two filmmakers are always highly anticipated and we hope to see at least one episode from both of them this season as well. Due to the immense freedom granted by animation, filmmakers have expressed their intention to dwell even deeper into adult themes in season 4.
