Zack Snyder is one of the most popular directors of our time, if not the most critically acclaimed. His movies have a unique and different tone which resonates with a lot of fans. Recently at Oscars 2022, Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead won the Oscar Fan-Favorite Award and Zack Snyder’s Justice League won the Oscar Cheer Moment Award. This proves once and for all that Zack Snyder’s real army aka his fans are just too mighty and can make anything happen. With such an immense loyal following, his upcoming film Rebel Moon is also all set to rock the world of cinema. And for you fans, we’ve got some good news.
Rebel Moon Will Have Two Parts
Rebel Moon is Zack Snyder’s sci-fi project which is based on the pitch he made to Lucasfilms as a Star Wars idea. Unfortunately, Lucasfilms wasn’t interested but that doesn’t stop Zack Snyder as he’s teamed up with Netflix to bring forth his vision. The good news is that Rebel Moon is reportedly a two part project which basically means it is a potential franchise.
The reliable news outlet THR, specifically referred to Rebel Moon releases as “two epic features.” It also reported that Cary Elwes, Corey Stoll, Michiel Huisman, and Alfonso Herrera have joined the cast of Rebel Moon. It’s also possible that if these two films perform well, there might be spin offs which will basically turn Rebel moon into a franchise. So, it seems like Snyder will be working on two franchises simultaneously, with Army of the Dead being the other one.
About Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon
As for Rebel Moon’s concept, it is about a young woman (Sofia Boutella), who becomes the face of a rising resistance against the galaxy’s conquerors. So, you can see how it was initially a Star Wars idea; it could’ve fit well in that universe. Anyways, Rebel Moon will be ready to begin filming this spring and is speculated to release sometime in 2024 on Netflix.
Just like Snyder’s 300, this film seems to have an epic scope and that is precisely why it is a two part saga. It would be interesting to see how Snyder will accommodate Star War elements in his film without getting into trademark related legal trouble. From the released concept art so far it looks like a lovechild of DC’s Snyderverse and Star Wars along with World War II like elements. Anyways, the filming for both parts will be held back to back and is about to begin shortly.
