Zack Snyder is moving on from the Justice League and Warner Bros. and he is stepping into something he genuinely loves – creating a grand saga of epic sci-fi storytelling. Whatever little we know about Rebel Moon, I have to say it looks truly glorious. This might be the grandest Zack Snyder film ever. It is a shame that we won’t be able to see the spectacle on the big screen as Snyder is making it with Netflix. The US and some other places might get some limited release in select theatres but if you live in India like then forget about seeing it in theatres, unless you have a home theatre set-up. Snyder is not only directing the film but has also taken some writing responsibility as he is co-writing the screenplay of Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad. The film is also based on Kurt’s original story.
The film’s cast includes Djimon Hounsou, Sofia Boutella, Ray Fisher and Ed Skrein. The film has a more extended cast which we don’t have clear updates on. The film has been in the works for a very long time and it just tells you how much effort is being put into the film. As we enter the new year and Netflix is getting people hyped for the films the platform is releasing in this year, the release date of Rebel Moon has been revealed and it is far away.
Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon Is Releasing In December!
Netflix has released a new video where the streaming giant has announced all the movies that will release on the platform this year. The new video called “Save the Dates”, featured a small clip from the movie which happens to be the very first footages that we’ve gotten. The clip featured is also quite explosive. We see Sofia Boutella’s Kora in action as well as Charlie Hunnam’s undisclosed character and Djimon Hounsou’s General Titus. Along with this the streaming release date of the film was announced which is 22nd December 2023.
There is no mention whether the film will have a limited theatrical release or not. I think we will get that update quite later. Although, my guess would be that it would have one. However, the official release date would be when it debuts on Netflix. The official synopsis of Rebel Moon reads: “When a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius, they dispatch a young woman with a mysterious past named Kora to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them take a stand.”
