Squid Game has been one of the biggest hits for Netflix and still remains as the most watched show ever. Now the streaming giant is bringing back a reality show based on the series titled Squid Game : The Challenge with 456 players and a series of games with real-life challenges for a record price of $4.56 million.
Squid Game Reality Series Concept
Though the reality show is not going to have a do-or-die stakes, like the series, Netflix claims the cash prize is highest in the history of TV reality shows, though Fox network previously has given recording contracts worth around $5 million. Netflix Vice-president of unscripted and documentary series Brandon Riegg said the following about the streamer’s new reality series.
“Squid Game took the world by storm with [director Hwang Dong-hyuk’s] captivating story and iconic imagery. We’re grateful for his support as we turn the fictional world into reality in this massive competition and social experiment. Fans of the drama series are in for a fascinating and unpredictable journey as our 456 real world contestants navigate the biggest competition series ever, full of tension and twists, with the biggest-ever cash prize at the end.””
The reality show is about to consist of 10 episodes and the streamer has also released an announcement video. The news of a Squid Game reality show comes amidst Netflix officially announcing the series is going to return for season 2.
