Squid Game Season 2: Creator Shares Rough Release Timeline

Squid Game was one of the biggest things that happened to the world of cinema last year. It took the streaming industry by storm  as it became Netflix’s most-streamed network with 111 million viewers. The dark drama series was in the top 10 on Netflix in all 94 countries with an existing rating system. Squid Game provided a new high to the K-Pop culture all over the world and fans have been rooting to see more from it ever since.

Hwang Dong-hyuk Shares Squid Game Season 2 Release Timeframe

Last month Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos confirmed Squid Game season 2 at a press conference. But neither did he share any release timeframe nor did he share any expected plot details. But now we Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk himself has shared a update on the series.

The update is that he is currently closing in the deal with Netflix upon which pre-production will officially begin. A report by Vanity Fair suggests that Hwang “only has about three pages’ worth of ideas that he plans to turn into a script”. That aside, he teased more games that will be “even better” than season 1. As for release timeframe, he predicted that Squid Game Season 2 won’t be ready for release until the end of 2023 at the earliest. Most probably we’ll see the series in the first quarter of 2024. That aside, Hwang had something more to say:

“Humanity is going to be put to a test through those games once again. I want to ask the question, ‘Is true solidarity between humans possible?’”

So, it is quite clear that season 2 is going to be as dark or even darker than season 1. Along with that, it is also going to explore the grey areas of life even further making the narrative a bit more complex and intriguing.
