Stranger Things, one of the Netflix’ magnum opus is ending but it is all set to go out with a bang! The highly popular and critically acclaimed show will debut its fourth season Volume 1 on May 27, 2022, which will consist of the first four episodes. The Volume 2 will debut on July 1, 2022, which will consist of the final 5 episodes of the fourth season. While fans are already sad to see it go, creator just teased that it will make you root for more.
Stranger Things Season 5 Ending Teased By Creators
It is abundantly clear that Stranger Things will end with fifth season, and all fans can do now is hope for a satisfying and closed ending. From the recent comments by the creator, it seems like the ending will feel a bit early and leave us wanting more. In an interview with SFX magazine, the Duffer Brothers teased the ending for Stranger Things season 5.
Even with five it’s going to feel like it’s ending a little early. We’re going to feel like we still have a lot more gas left in the tank. But I think that it’s better to end there with us wanting more. That’s why ending at five felt like the right move. – Matt Duffler
It’s quite understandable that the creators want to end the show on a high as we’ve seen many shows extending their venture and ultimately failing to deliver. While, fans might be disappointed to see it end with a few questions left unanswered, it leaves the room for discussion. This strategy also helps many cinematic pieces age well. But do not get too disappointed as along with this bad news, comes a good one as well.
Stranger Things Spin-Off Is Being Planned
Creators Ross and Matt Duffer have been quite open about the show’s endgame and its possible future spin-off plans. They stated clearly that they do have more stories to tell and that ideation on potential spin-offs is currently underway. Today almost every show tries their hand at spin offs and some of those plans prove to be effective as well. Some prime examples of this are Better Call Saul, Narcos: Mexico, and The Book of Boba Fett. So, its highly possible that we see a Stranger Things spin off and here’s what Matt Duffler had to say:
We haven’t told anyone our plans! Not even Netflix! We have some ideas. In terms of if we were to do any sort of a spin-off, or any continuation of Stranger Things, for us the bar was always, ‘Is the idea exciting enough that we feel the pull of wanting to do it again?’ I want to feel the pull of, ‘God, I really want to do this. I feel really, really excited about this.’ So that’s why we’re being careful about what that is and whether we move forward with it or not. – Matt Duffler
Ross Duffler also had a thing or two to add on and tease us further.
“The key for us is that it needs to feel like its own distinct thing, not that we’re just retreading what we’ve already done, because what would be the point of that? I do think we have something that could be pretty exciting. So we’ll see…” – Ross Duffler
Some of the upcoming spin offs of certain well renowned shows are House of Dragon (Game of Thrones), Berlin (Money Heist), and Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. So, since everyone is doing it in this content oriented world, why won’t Stranger Things do it?
