Stranger Things is Netflix’s flagship show that has been going on since 2016, The show has garnered immense popularity over the course of its 4 seasons. The latest season of the series came out last year and it was divided into two volumes. Both of them were explosive and darker than any other season we’d gotten. We were introduced to the central villain of the show- Vecna played excellently by Jamie Campbell Bower. This season was nearly 13 hours long with each episode last at least 80 minutes. The last three episodes of the season were all 90 minutes plus with the finale being 2 hours and 30 minutes. The length was worth the story they were telling. Even after their best efforts the heroes of Hawkins couldn’t stop Vecna from bringing his vision into a reality. Season 4 ended on a cliffhanger leaving a lot of for Season 5.
As the series is at its end, it looks like the writers of the show are going all out to give us an epic finale to a story that is so close to out hearts. The budget for Stranger Things 4 was huge, with each episode costing $30 Million and the entire $270 Million which is $100 Million more than Top Gun: Maverick’s budget. I’m sure Stranger Things 5 will have a massive budget as well. While we don’t have the numbers yet, what we do have are the pay raises that all the actors have gotten for the final season of the series.
Stranger Things 5: All Actors get Massive Pay Raises!
According to a recent report by Puck News, as production for the final season of the show nears, all the actors are done with the negotiations for the last season. New contracts for all the actors are ready and it seems like almost everyone is getting a huge pay raise. The report stated that Stranger Things always divides its actors in tiers which accounts for how much money they make and it is the same for this season as well. Tier One includes the two adult leads of the show- David Harbour and Winona Ryder.
Both the actors will be making $9.5 Million for the last season which has eight episodes in it. For comparison, in Season 3 both the actors were getting paid $350,000 for each episode which is about $2.8 Million for the whole season. You see the huge jump? Tier Two consists of Noah Schnapp, Finn Wolfhard, Caleb McLaughlin and Gaten Matarazzo, the original four young male leads of the show who were a part of the show since Season 1. This time Sadie Sink would also be added to Tier 2 even if she joined the show in Season 2.
The new contract will pay them each $7 Million for the entire final season. For comparison, the four actors were only making $25,000 per episode in Season 1. Tier Three consists of the other teens that regularly appear in the series such as Maya Hawke, Joe Kerry, Natalie Dyer and Charlie Heaton who will each be making $6 Million according to the new contracts. Tier 4 includes everyone who wasn’t mentioned in the three tiers mentioned above. Millie Bobby Brown who is considered to be the true protagonist of the show is not included in the tiers.
Brown has a separate and exclusive contract directly with Netflix, which I’m assuming pays her much more than the figures mentioned above as she is a Netflix regular be it in Stranger Things or the Enola Holmes franchise.
All Four seasons of Stranger Things are available for streaming on Netflix. Season 5 is rumored to come out on Netflix in late 2023 or early 2024.
