Stranger Things 4 Vol. 2 left us on a bitter-sweet note. Mostly bitter. However, I think it has been long enough for us to recover from the shock of Season 4. This season we were introduced to Vecna- the most powerful villain of Stranger Things yet. Even if Eleven seemingly defeated Vecna in the final episode of the season, that was only momentarily as we know he is still out there. Nancy couldn’t destroy his physical form. In fact, I think its fair to say Vecna won this season as he completed his of four kills and consequently opening four gates in Hawkins leading to the merging of our world and the Upside Down. Eleven brought back Max to life, I don’t know how but she brought her back and that halted the complete destruction.
However, the amount of damage caused is massive, it looks irreversible and from the last shot of the season it looks like the Upside Down is slowly taking over Hawkins. After the revelation that Vecna/One/Henry was indeed behind everything from the very start, the question of who will be the villain in the final season sounds moot. Agreed, it will be Vecna but…will it be only him? Think about it, Stranger Things never gives us the same villains. Season 1- Demogorgon, Season 2- Demodogs & the Mind Flayer, Season 3- Flesh Monster & the Mind Flayer and finally Season 4- Vecna. Season 5 will be the final season, so it will be pretty lame to see everyone fighting with only Vecna once again. Also, his physical form is severely damaged so he might be looking for a new body. So, who can be the Villain in Season 5?
Stranger Things Finale Villain Possibility One – Thessalhydra
We all are aware how much Stranger Things likes to borrow its villains’ names from Dungeons & Dragons, even if they look nothing like their counterparts. Let me be clear about one thing, while we believe Vecna is the most powerful villain of Stranger Things, in D&D its not the case. He is not the most powerful. In the show, as now his physical form is weak, he’ll search for a new host. Now, I know there are a lot of theories out there about Will getting possessed again but I’d like to see it this way. What if Vecna goes into one of the creatures from the Upside Down.
Not a low hierarchy creature but something like the Thessalhydra, who is mighty powerful and will surely be a nightmare to defeat. Even if this isn’t the case. The Thessalhydra is the only creature from Dungeons & Dragons who fits the exact description that Nancy gave about her visions that Vecna forced her to see. She described the new monster as a huge creature with many heads and a gaping mouth. Now, we see somethings that Nancy described in the finale like the 4 gates opening up and a black cloud over Hawkins but not this.
The image of the Thessalhydra is a spitting image of her description and not to mention she says many other creatures were there but they’re lead by this huge monster. Implying what I’m hinting at. Vecna will be in the Thessalhydra, did that sound wrong? Who cares.
Possibility Two – Tiamat
Tiamat is one of the most powerful creatures in Dungeons & Dragons. He is extremely powerful and almost like a GOT dragon but only worse as he has multiple heads that don’t just spit fire but other poisonous things. The creature can fly as he is a dragon. While Tiamat doesn’t fit Nancy’s description exactly but no villain in Stranger Things looks like their counterparts in D&D. Even if you don’t buy that there are a lot of parallels in the description and Tiamat. He has multiple heads, he is huge and while he doesn’t have a gaping mouth but it is definitely bigger than all the other heads. If Eleven and gang have to fight Tiamat I don’t know how in god’s name will they ever defeat him.
