The Crown Season 6: Netflix Confirms 2023 Release Date, No Delays

Netflix confirmed the release date of The Crown Season 6 and what the viewers can expect. All the seasons so far have proven to be one of Netflix’s most popular shows. It was controversial too because of the blend of fiction, fact, and associations with a real-world family. Season 6 stands out, not only because it’s the last season, but also because it’s the first to wrap after Queen Elizabeth II’s demise.

While the sixth season has held a late 2023 release for quite some time, Netflix is expected to postpone the upcoming slate due to the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Due to the rules of the strikes, The Crown’s latest cast members will not be able to promote the sixth season while the strikes are ongoing.

Latest Release Updates of The Crown Season 6

Netflix posted an image of a royal wedding invitation on Twitter (presently known as X) confirming the release of The Crown Season 6. “After six seasons, seven years, and three casts, ‘The Crown’ comes to an end later this year. Here’s a hint at what’s to come in our final season.” It is worth noting that The Crown has a tradition of releasing in either November or December.

Season 5 of the show portrays the broken relationship of Prince Charles and Princess Diana. Certainly, the sixth season is going to be tragic. Many fans have questioned the decision to recreate Princess Diana’s death on-screen. The new season is confirmed to encompass the tragic death of Princess Diana (Elizabeth Debicki), the early relationships of Prince William (Ed McVey), and the now Catherine, Princess of Wales (Meg Bellamy). Season 6 also involves the 2005 wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla. There are concerns regarding this new season damaging the image of King Charles and Queen Camilla. Prince Harry has a contract with Netflix in real life. He will be portrayed in this new season amidst his and his wife Megan Markle’s division with the royal family.

Since the show is an established hit, maybe Netflix doesn’t feel the need for promotions from the cast is required. The Crown Season 6 arrives on Netflix later this year.
