The Sandman Netflix Poster, Trailer, Release Date and More

At San Diego Comic-Con 2022, fans got a new look at a brand-new trailer for Netflix’s The Sandman shortly before its release. Along with the trailer, Netflix also unveiled a new key art poster for the show, which features several of the cast members. Among them are Tom Sturridge as the lead, Dream, Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death, Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine, and others.

After decades of attempts, The Sandman is now being adapted for live-action in the Netflix series. The show is an adaptation of the Neil Gaiman comics, which he created along with Sam Kieth and Mike Drigenberg. Along with David S. Goyer and the series’ showrunner, Allan Heinberg, Gaiman writes and executive produces the show. Check out the new poster below.

The trailer’s opening scene shows Dream manipulating sand – “Your waking world is shaped by dreams. Dreams and nightmares that I create and which I must control.” While Dream is seen looking for Corinthian escaping, Johanna appears reluctant to help Dream and Corinthian expresses a wish to reshape the world. We also get a peek at Hell, Desire, and Lucifer. “My creations do not walk amongst the living, killing mortals for pleasure.” A slowed-down version of the song, Mr. Sandman, plays as the trailer ends. Take a look at it below.

After years of futile attempts to get an adaptation off the ground, Neil Gaiman’s legendary comic series will become a Netflix series on August 5. The cast and crew of the show claimed they would never have succeeded without Gaiman’s help, and the show has come together with his full support.

The series’ lead character, Dream (also known as Morpheus), is played by Velvet Buzzsaw actor Tom Sturridge. Dream rules the ethereal realm known as The Dreaming. The cast also features two Game of Thrones veterans, Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer Morningstar and Charles Dance playing Roderick Burgess. The Corinthian, a rogue nightmare-turned-serial killer, created by Morpheus, will be portrayed by Boyd Holbrook of Narcos fame.

The Sandman makes its Netflix debut on August 5.
